Oh, interesting. Halfway to Orim, Samite Healer.
Hmm... Cat Cleric Farmer, or Cat Cleric that is farming. I know I've talked about giving townsfolk their jobs back, and I planned to do add that to my own designs... but maybe New Mirrodin's not the place for it. It probably works better when you see a cleric get on their hands and knees working when you know they wouldn't normally do that. Farmer probably takes away from that.
I didn't completely negate Samite Healer, but its about time we updated that slot. Ghost Warden is much better than it, and that's just a mediocre card. Uncommon, Legendary and a tricky targeting rule gave me some leeway to pump us up to 2.
Hmm. I'll have to sit on this. I definitely get the argument. I think this is more of a "I need to see what people think of these if there are 5 of them and they pop up in a draft. Does it groove... do people get that it's sunburst, but centered on one color... or do they just hate it." I'm thinking hate... but if they don't, that opens up a lot of... well... it's not really design space. More like development space?
Did I? I'll take your word for it.
As for this one: Hmm. So in monoblack it's a Headhunter for
. In black-blue it's a Dimir Cutpurse for

without the card-draw. In tricolour it's a 3/3 for 4 coloured mana.
Not really very good at any of those points, but broadly passable at all of them. It may be it's only worth playing with the Coretapper equivalent from the set.

is still very odd with sunburst. It's like "Play lots of colours! Oh, but be sure you get double black." There is some space for that; Unscythe, Killer of Kings, Necromancer's Covenant and Dragon Broodmother have been in similar areas. (The first two are in my Five-Colour Zombies deck.)
When I first tried

with this sunburst-y concept, Alex didn't like it. Of course, the first time I tried it, I paired it with Intimidate, which, sure, intimidate is a black mechanic, but it doesn't feel black black. It is, after all, just another evasion.
So let's try this again with a mechanic that's rarely splashable. Hey, Alex! Does this card feel better now that you know that you probably wouldn't get this mechanic on a
card? (also of note: You could play with worse creatures when packing mono-black...)
Very strange that the blue one of the cylce ends up with the best stats. But that's not an event that happen in most Magic games, and, even in New Mirrodin, there should only be so many blue counters flying around. It's not like a person can go nuts with Shrieking Drake and this thing...
Glare of Subdual, which was a sorta-colourshift of Opposition. And true. This is like Telekinetic Sliver, a reasonable uncommon version of the effect.
Huh. Nice catch. No, it's your creatures. And this thing should be uncommon. Switching.
As good as the effect is, though, it ain't no

enchantment (who's name escapes me right now).
Wow. That's quite a strong global effect.
Also, is it meant to apply to your opponents' creatures too?
Well, you'd be duplicating a counter, so you'd have to choose a counter that's already on the card. I'd like to imagine that proliferate would give you an extra option, but, really, if you have a red ion counter, you'd get another red ion counter. Luckily, I don't plan on using proliferate in this set, because that's a frustrating interaction.
Of course. But what color?
@Alex. Hey, if someone's first impression is "Looks like a rare to me." Then, sure, we can try it out as a rare. I might pop it back down if I end up with too many rares, but that's not normally what happens to me.
Unfortunately (fortunately?) Proliferate will only add one counter. That's because you only ever get to add one counter to a permanent no matter how many different type of counters they are. I kind of dodged the bullet on that question... I was concerned that something broken might start happening.
Question about the relationship of proliferate and these ion counters: when you proliferate, do you put one ion counter of your choice on this, or one ion counter of each color already present?
