Fair points all. Moved to uncommon, and dropped the activation to
since I don't have to worry about it being too good for draft anymore. I'd play it. But I'm the type of guy who would buy all the Banes in DC's new Deck Building Game instead of beating up the main bad guy. I may or may not have been acting like a Super-Timmy. At least DC-DBG is fun.
It is a bit fiddly; but I like the tension. Still - I can't see when I'd ever want to have a whole pile of them in limited, or more than, say, 5 or 6 in total. So probably uncommon makes sense. It's sorta almost Sensei's Divining Top in some ways, and possibly usable in some of the same ways too. Though mainly, of course, it's just a way to land filter once you don't need any more, which is itself quite nice.
Skip the lifegain and this is still a handy Darksteel Pendant-like effect. (Perhaps taking the cost down to
, or perhaps not). With the lifegain it's too fiddly for common, and may also encourage players to make suboptimal decisions if they're digging for lands but see a tempting boat of 3 life.
What do you think. Too much? This is supposed to be common... though I can imagine a bunch of new players having fun with this. Still might be too complicated for common, though. I should probably bump it to uncommon at the very least...
A companion card for Mirran Theodolite, and another attempt to help you race through your deck, inspired by Darksteel Pendant. Really, it's just double pendant. I don't know... I think I may have been too spot on with this card. Let's try to put a twist on this.
Wordier, and still doesn't really solve the problem. All Glornican creatures are multicolored. I'm thinking the best way to deal with this is to just make all the creatures be Elementals with all colors. It's not what I want to do, but it's the only thing that doesn't fight the setting. We even have the already there reminder text to help smooth over player confusion with paying colors and creatures that are all colors.
How about a 1/1 spirit of each colour paid? So (W)(U)(B) gets 3 1/1s - one white, one blue, one black.
Ha! Yeah, I could have guess who would end up on what side of the argument. I'm just happy to see everyone arguing. ;)
I like the idea, but it can't stay even if it's legal. It's bound to seriously ruffle feathers the wrong way with some people. Great bonus idea for an un-set, though.
Well that took me a long time to figure out.
