Another animal mashup, this time using Sabretooth Tiger and Boa Constrictor. I unfortunately had to make the Constrictor activation costly if I expected non-green red decks to draft this card. a 2/1 first striker for 4 just isn't appealing.
Also of note, I originally wanted to tack Rootwalla on this card... but then it occurred to me that Ghor-clan Bloodscale beat me to it. I suppose I could have made a more efficient version of that card... but... meh.
I wasn't happy how those animal mashes were making draft impossible for enemy-color drafters, so I've switched this animal pair, Fiddler Mastadon and Skywinder Scorpion for off-color activation instead. I'm going to have to send something to uncommon as well. Not sure if it's going to be the gold animal pairs or the CHHDs, which do seem overbearing in common, even if they are simple vanilla creatures. I figure a cycle of creatures like this:

Creature - Drake
Flying
3/2
Should give the enemy colors a chance to be drafted.
And a bit of flavor text to explain why this animal got such an absurd name (even if it is, taxinomically speaking, correct). It's got to be frustrating when the person in your colony most prone to discovering and naming new species is the 10 year-old girl who hangs out in the woods.
Mashing together animals. This is a Ravenous Rats combined with a Kingfisher. I'm a bit concerned that's a bit too cheap. The alternative, however, costs

and that's too expensive. Perhaps if I need to calm Blue/Black down, I can bump this up
.
That name, though, may be the best mashup up name I've ever come up with. :)
Fifth attempt. Charisma! How did I waltz past you the first time? I probably tried to make you some sort of global effect and failed... but you look perfectly fine doing a Tolarian Entrancer impression on this card. Shame that Tolarian Enchanter himself doesn't fit the description of 'super-blue', but most Control Magic effects do. I think we can swing this.
Fourth attempt, this time using Bribery/Aquire as an only blue mechanic, fails. That's way too many words. Pity... it's a good idea.
Mmm. It probably is actually blue, but untapping my artifacts is not what I think of when I see "untap all permanents you control". That to me says lands first, creatures second, artifacts third. (Enchantments fourth, planeswalkers fifth.)
Mmm. I was hoping that 'untap everything' would feel uniquely blue, but perhaps it does not. It can only be found in blue... not many other colors are willing to untap all artifacts... but maybe I'll have to hit the drawing board again. It should seem obvious to the reader. Man, this one's a toughie.
Hmm. It feels like a green ability, since it's been seen most recently on Bear Umbra and Sword of Feast and Famine. I know this will untap your creatures too, but that's green too (Vitalize).
The Rats/Kingfisher thingy is too obvious to ignore. I went with the Drake/Scorpion. It may not be enjoyed by players as much, but I like what it does to the limited meta-game, threatening to prey on players who rely on flying too much. Plus the name... I didn't even have to do anything. It tells you which two cards created this card.
Still trying to make up my mind about which animals I want to mashup in blue black. Giant Scorpion feels like a keeper to me... but do I want Kingfisher (to my left)(Edit: No it's not anymore. But you can imagine what it would look like), Skywinder Drake:

Creature - Drake Scorpion
Deathtouch
~ can block only creatures with flying.
1/3
or Whiptongue Frog...

: ~ gains flying until end of turn.
Creature - Frog Scorpion
Deathtouch
1/3
On top of that, I'm not really sure how to follow this up. I guess the other good black creature choice is Ravenous Rats. I suppose Rats+Kingfisher makes too much sense to ignore...
