Random Generator gave me Sedge Troll and Defense of the Heart... back in October. I never solved that problem, and can't add another set comment unless I do, so here it is.
I wish there was more of the Troll in this card, but I'll have to settle for the last line, I suppose. Jack's original idea was clever, and I wanted to use it, but it had strayed far enough where it was a mashup of Lhurgoyf, Entomb and Gargoyle Sentinel. I agree with Alex, in that it didn't need to be that strong a card, and could just be similar to a Fierce Empath (which got me thinking of casting costs in the first place), but I like how this card gets a lot of the spirit of DotH without being super abusive. Also, on a clear board, combos with
cost Kobolds. Did I mention that I like Kobolds?
Hmm. Interesting. A Fugue each turn, but they can pay (hefty amounts) to stop it, and they can stop it by getting rid of the enchanted permanent. Clearly nasty, but doesn't seem obviously overpowered.
Random generator gave me Errant Minion and Fugue. Sadly, we're back to normal Magic cards. I really liked doing random Multiverse cards, but, like I said, people who don't know what Multiverse is won't be impressed, so I have to be conservative with those.
I can see why Errant Minion has yet to be printed in a core set. It's a simple idea, but, since it operates in the reverse way of how things are normally done, it becomes a gigantic garble. Is this enchantment clear in how it operates? I think I got the feel for what's happening in a simplified form, even if the grammar leaves something to be desired. I just had to go and complicate things by bringing the cost up from
to
...
Ha. Yes, Sienira's Facets, being one of the first few sets on Multiverse, predates my implementation of logging who made any given edit :)
Multiverse Random Generator gave me Steelsmith at Rogar Keep, a second randomly chosen submission for M Houlding's set Melody, and Pulse of Pain by Alex, I assume? Sienira's Facets is credited to Alex, but the card just says someone, someone, someone.
This isn't a very creative interpretation of the two cards together, since it doesn't go very far from "equipped creatures get a boost, plus pulse it". But I like it anyway, so it will have to do. This card really wants to have a casting cost of
... The +3/+0 leans more toward red, the getting it back if you're still losing leans more toward white, and the bonus to combat asks for both colors.
Also, I'm putting this card in my new blacksmith-tribal deck. :p
I ordered it with "If you control fewer creatures" first in order to stop a few headslaps. My thinking was that part would be the easiest to forget, so I tried to push it forward. That being the case, yes, you're probably right... that is the way they do it. Strange, too, since the "If" part is probably the easiest to forget on all those cards as well. Changing over.
