Multiverse Randomly generated Penumbra Essence designed by Darkheart, and Timely Reinforcements which is a reprint of Timely Reinforcements and a part of Camruth's M-Core set.
My first thought was to make a white instant that did roughly the same thing until end of turn. A sort of continuous Ghostway for the player with the fewest creatures. It kind of suffered from "Sacrifice a creature" combos, though and was unclear what it did when a player cast Wrath of God (Do I count the number of creatures I have when I cast the spell, or when a creature goes to the graveyard?).
It's funny, because I was dodging writing it out this way because it seemed much scarier to me as a designer. It's hard to remember, sometimes, that what is scary to a designer is exciting for a player. Besides, after reattaching the token/non-token thingy, it still only means double creatures. What I'm really afraid of is Lifeline, and this card is clearly not that.
I think it should be reordered as "Trigger, intervening-if, effect." I like how you subtly eliminated infinite combos that are present with Lifeline.
I ordered it with "If you control fewer creatures" first in order to stop a few headslaps. My thinking was that part would be the easiest to forget, so I tried to push it forward. That being the case, yes, you're probably right... that is the way they do it. Strange, too, since the "If" part is probably the easiest to forget on all those cards as well. Changing over.
