I like this card. But instants matter in blue makes this unnecessary. Flagged for nest set.
Hold it... Skullclamp draws you two cards. Well, no matter. I wouldn't want to negate Carnage Altar or Phyrexian Vault... there's nothing wrong with those cards.
I moved it into the workbench, though. A combination of "Doesn't feel very original... just Chinese Menu-ish" combined with the lack of synergy between the two abilities... I mean, it works, but you have to know to tap the creature for mana, then sacrifice the creature, then use the mana. I don't know many knew players that would make that leap.
Random Generator gave me Razortooth Rats and Merrow Commerce. I wanted a feel of out of control frenzied rats. Originally, this card included the line:
"Whenever an opponent casts a spell, put a 1/1 black Rat token onto the battlefield."
And didn't grant Intimidate (but meant your team untapped when your opponent cast spells), but I realized I wasn't really making a mashup at that point, and was just making a card I liked. I scaled back to this.
Also of note: This didn't end up a Kobold. I already have 'all Kobolds gain evasion', so it didn't seem necessary. The set doesn't really have any rats, so I just tossed it back to the workbench.
