The set needs a few more pieces of equipment, so I'm making a few pieces of equipment. I guess when you're using the history of magic for your random generator, the chances that you'll get two cards printed before 2005 isn't terrible.

Anyhow, I chose "Equipment" and Random Generator gave me Grim Backwoods. The end result was mysteriously similar to Carnage Altar. Funny thing is, my first thought was to price this at {1} and {2}. Then I thought about Skullclamp, and how this card would be better than that card, since the equipped creature could just tap for one to help equip the next creature... Crazy.

So, while I, unfortunately want to push this close to {3} for the mana producing, it needs to be much higher than that so it isn't an abusive engine piece. Hmm. Maybe I should just increase the amount of mana it produces to get the two sides closer together...

2012-08-19 06:20:50: jmgariepy moved the card Walking Deadwood from Mashup: the Gathering Alpha into Mashup: the Gathering Workbench

Hold it... Skullclamp draws you two cards. Well, no matter. I wouldn't want to negate Carnage Altar or Phyrexian Vault... there's nothing wrong with those cards.

I moved it into the workbench, though. A combination of "Doesn't feel very original... just Chinese Menu-ish" combined with the lack of synergy between the two abilities... I mean, it works, but you have to know to tap the creature for mana, then sacrifice the creature, then use the mana. I don't know many knew players that would make that leap.
