Random Generator gave me Desertion and Taj-Nar Swordsmith. I've been pressing the color wheel quite a bit the last two days. This buster is not only a counterspell, but a control artifact. I feel like I should make it blue, but it's really narrow... I don't know if the blue mage would bother to make use of it. Then again, I'd pay {5}{u} to counter, gain control of and equip my opponent's Sword of Fire and Ice to my creature...

Interesting. I don't think it works, but interesting..

Nifty. It's like Desertion for equipment. ...Wait, Desertion affects artifacts? Since when? o.o Also reminiscent of Spelljack.

This is indeed pretty narrow. I mean, unless you can afford the X this is twice worse than Annul. Definitely "junk rare" territory. But that'll just make the occasions when it does work more memorable :)

I also agree it should be blue.

I dunno - in blue it's very very obviously "Huh, this is almost never worth using" In another colour it gets the status of "This is a stretch into another colour; and correspondingly higher costed" - still not often worth keeping over a Disenchant but its existence is more understandable.

Since most equipment (except for a one or two I can even recall,) have equip costs less then their mana cost, I think you can simplify this down to just being desertion - esq.

What an odd card this is. I do admit, reading that block of text is unappetizing. Maybe I'll have this spell blast artifacts, but gain control of and equip equipment, and move it into blue where it belongs. The "pay the converted equip cost" is cute, but I agree, it's just one more thing to figure out when dealing with an already clunky card. Highlighted and set aside.
