I tried a first stab at the concept with Boros Spy Network.
For Challenge # 064. I took the first obvious answer that occurred to me, and paired up two opposing factions in Ravnica to make a four colored card (for all I know, Wizards may do something like this in Dragon's Maze). This would be how Boros and Dimir interact. After all, someone has to patrol the sewer network... Boros may not have many men involved in the project, but those that can undermine whole criminal networks.
At first, I thought about literally overlapping two keyword abilities... but I wanted to take this card a bit further than that. This card takes a cue from the Boros and Dimir keywords, without completely subscribing to one or the other.
Excellent challenge. I've gone to the well a couple of times before, but the idea is an ever elusive one.
There's not much explaining to do for this one. Your card or cards can be any card type. If you want to expand the challenge:
-Make a card of each card type
-Make a card for each four-color combination.
Mostly, I just chose the wording that appears on a few other Archenemy cards. A lot of them say "When you set this scheme into motion", and a lot of them talk about your opponent's next turn, and a lot of them won't let something happen on your next upkeep... which I assume is because another scheme will be set into motion before your next upkeep, and that's confusing. I can see why Wizards makes these decisions, but I agree that it's open to debate.
I would make it an upkeep effect to resolve issues with card grammar.
What's the ruling on when player/s can sing pitches too high for other player/s to hear?
The only Christmas special I watch is the Doctor Who one, coincidentally named "The Snowmen" this year and memorialized by Hungry Snowmen.
I think what people will watch varies a lot from household to household. Doctor Who and Wallace and Gromit are probably some of the most watched in the UK (after the current Christmas episode of the big soap operas). The Snowman is more a kind of epitome of Christmas TV than actually watched that much itself. Some James Bond film or other probably also features pretty highly.
Maybe I'm weird for this, but I have never enjoyed Charlie Brown holiday specials. Or anything Charlie Brown-related, really.
I've never even heard of The Snowman, but that could be my own failing.
Btw, Jon's creatures would always have flying.
As far as I know, The Snowman hasn't gained as much traction in the U.S.. I did notice that the word 'Brittish' appears a lot in the Wikipedia page. I know I've seen pieces of it. Probably on Public Broadcasting. We don't spend a lot on our public broadcasting... we just steal half of it from the BBC. ;)
This, of course, makes me want to compare notes as to which holiday specials you guys regularly watch compared to which ones we watch, but that conversation's got a good chance of being entertaining at first, then annoying as it continues. I do need to know this, though: Does everyone over there insist that they need to watch "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" like it's their religion, every year? I think they're both fine holiday specials, but man, I know a few people who take them far too seriously.
Created Singing Snowman.
For Challenge # 063. Don't know if Americans have this tradition as much as in Britain? The Snowman is shown without fail every Christmas on British TV, and there was a classic spoof version by Irn-Bru last year.
Hahaha. I love it. And the moment I saw the design, I knew it was JMG :P :)
I suppose the activation could/should be blue, but I think it fits in red. And without red, it wouldn't be Christmas!
Heh. When I first scanned this card, I saw the red mana and thought the tree might explode. Glad to see that this card gives presents to your opponents instead. :)
I made Christmas Tree.
Cute!
For Challenge # 063. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, everybody. This challenge seemed sad with everyone rushing off to do their Christmas duties, so I added Island of Misfit Toys.
For Challenge # 063. So have you heard of the new format where everyone plays cards with a rating of 2.0 or less? It's pretty interesting, and incredibly tough to solve. There are some cards that don't deserve their rating, but most do. Oppressive Will seems like a fine counter in this format, doing roughly what Cancel would have, anyway. But the rest of the cards? Well... let's put it this way. Here's a selection of random cards between 1.8 and 1.9 stars:
Bone Flute, Merchant of Secrets, Scathe Zombies, Dragon's Claw, Fulgent Distraction
Tough. Island of Misfit Toys would be broken in that format... except I'd expect it to be illegal in that format for having a rating greater than 2. :)
You know, Chris, I actually thought about this one. I assumed that Wizards would use the singular, since you could be playing a game against one opponent (besides completely unfair one on one games, this comes up often in multiplayer if you're doing well as the archenemy...). That said, it could be plural possessive, since that's the more likely option to happen. I don't know. A Gatherer search tells me that neither word has appeared on any archenemy cards...
