What other takes have you seen on it? :o I'm just curious, haha.
This is cool. Needs to be a real thing. C'mon WotC.
It would be nice, eh? There are a lot of Magic sites out there, though, and I know... well... Rosewater at the very least has said that he tries to avoid looking at other player's design so he doesn't accidentally steal something. But then again, Wizards once hired someone to help work on Fifth Dawn that only got that job because Rosewater looked at his design (they were at a tournament together and hit it off). So, so much for that.
I did do a quick Google search for some open-ended items like "Amateur Magic Design", "Custom Magic Cards" and "Magic Design Challenge". Multiverse isn't on page one of any of them, which is understandable, because sites like GatheringMagic.com exist. In fact, I dug even further into 'card design challenge' and eventually gave up on page 10, when I finally found Goblinartisan. On page 10. Crazy. Well, that's our reality check. It's possible, but who knows.
I do know this, though. When the GDS3 ever happens, if any of us end up in the final 10, then we've got an accidentally excellent support network established and in place. I know if they gave me wiki space, I'd ignore it, come straight here and say "Alright guys, we got our work cut out for us."
Nice card imo, I added the creature type Thrull, the name, and the flavor text just so it wouldn't be incomplete.
I'm open to another name... I get the feeling there is a name that perfectly suits this and it's incredibly obvious but I can't seem to think of it.
Also, not sure if the "and/or" is correct or needed.
I hope wizards is paying attention to this site.
If I could 'like' this, I would.
Haa! That is a fascinating approach to the cards-with-already-taken-names idea. I've never seen that take on it before.
Something I'd been thinking about for a while. If anyone has a better idea for a keyword, lemme know.
I'd just like to point out that Yawgmoth isn't a planeswalker. That's why his invasion of Dominaria was so complicated--he couldn't get there easily from Phyrexia.
Still, if he returned as a planeswalker or something, this would be a great card for him.
If it wasn't for Cloudpost/Urzatron, I'd say let it be. But, man, those decks don't need yet another Vesuva.
Very true. It should probably have a mana payment for the activation, and/or ETB tapped, if it should exist at all.
Hmmm. This seems very good to me. It's not quite Expedition Map for no mana, but it's pretty close, as most nonbasic lands make colourless. This will fetch your missing Urzatron piece, your next Cloudpost or Glimmerpost, your combo deck's Academy Ruins, and so on and so on.
Yup, and I think it belongs here more.
Heh! Goodgood. It does seem like such a natural idea. The Lord approach is a fun tack to take.
Other Germ creatures you control get +1/+1.
Ah, yes, sorcery speed was a significant drawback on Jack's loyalty lands like Arcane Scriptorium. OK, that's likely fine then.
Oh, as for being better than Forest.. maybe. But it should be noted that the red mana happens at sorcery speed. That's got to count for something (and, you know, it's probably worse than River of Tears straight up... so it probably isn't that offensive.)
That's a really good point that some players will hate themselves, and the card, for having to 'waste' one of their only red sources early. It means the land isn't evergreeen, but needs to be matched for a very specific set.
Though, now that I think of it, I've been wanting to see that set pop up for a long time now. One which encourages splashes, and only splashes, in the way that Ravnica encourages multicolor, but only for two colors. I'll have to keep this land in mind. I'm likely to develop that set myself if I don't see it happen sometime soon.
Nice idea. The closest I can find is Mirror Spire by Joz. It's a bit like River of Tears, but more so.
I like it in theory, but it might be a bit painful to play with. Say I've got a mostly-green deck with a bit of a red splash for some 4- and 5-mana cards, and I have one of these in my opening hand. I probably ought to play it early, but it's going to tempt me to hold onto it in my hand until I can cast a splash card off it.
I do wonder if it might be close to too much better than Forest. It can't cast a Birds of Paradise on turn 1, but it can certainly cast a Grizzly Bears on turn 2.
You know, I assume someone else came up with this idea for a cycle of lands somewhere. But I figured I'd share the idea, anyway.
