Name - Quantum Flames
Flavor Text - At the end of the alchemists of Kunlun's search to discover the essence of Fire, the land was scorched forevermore.
Pyroclasm is taken, Cataclysm is taken... Rain of? Rain of Cats.
Welcome back to Name That Card! Today's card is a cost efficient board wipe and punisher. Unfortunately, the caster doesn't have full control as to how much the spell costs. For the record:
If there are no creatures, this cost and does nothing.
If there is one creature, this costs and deals 1 to that creature and each opponent.
If there are two creatures, this costs and deals 2 damage to those creatures and each opponent.
etc., ect..
But what is the card's name?
Alex wins this week, so we're painting the creature blue. XD See everybody in (((NTC #074)))!
Ha! Shame on me for poo-pooing any idea. My role is supposed to be host/moderator, not critic. :D

My first thought for colour-plus-flavour just based on the mechanics was to make this blue Phyrexian. JMG kinda simultaneously raised and dismissed that possibility, but, well, I'm going to enter it anyway :P
So this is a:
Serum Distiller
Creature - Phyrexian Vedalken Wizard
Hmm, something something Zedruu wants you to have this. So this is an Erlundi something.
So the only thing that fits as a name, for me, is a gift of nnowledge. Literally knowledge, that you gift. I guess you could file the serial number's off of Prometheus, losing knowledge afterwards isn't quite the same as having your liver eaten, but that's a serial number...
And... well, they already did Chained to the Rocks but... Ooooh. Looking a little deeper, methinks they wer already thinking along these lines. Warden of the chained is a minotaur. Clearly, the chained one is both our prometheus equivalent and Zedru's patron.
So. I kind of want to go the reversal path here, and have the creature be a giant liver-eating eagle; who daily has its memories set on fire.
The creature name should probably try for iconic: The Chained One.
Colourwise - black is indeed the obvious one. Lots of "Power now, pain later" cards in black. But I really want this playable in a Zedruu deck. Really cannot justify this in white, which leaves red and blue. Birds aren't red, sometimes they are blue. But blue both doesn't do things this big (usually) and anyway has better card-draw options.
So with great reluctance, . Although is really really tempting.
Book Moocher -
Creature - Tiefling Rogue
"Cursed Idol"
Artifact Creature - Statue
A lot of other names on the same theme could be good, but I took one from Greek Mythos because I'm basic.
Trojan Horse - Cost
Artifact Creature - Construct
Welcome back! Today we have a powerful early creature that comes with a steep drawback... but if your opponent gives you enough time and space, you can turn that drawback into card advantage.
The mana value for this creature is three. But I haven't locked it into a color. Either an artifact creature or a black creature seems most obvious to me. But I could see an argument for red or maybe straight colorless too. Had this card drawn two cards when it entered the battlefield, I'd argue for Blue as well, but as it stands right now Blue would only be appropriate in Planar Chaos or maybe New Phyrexia.
Anyhow, what's the card's name (and color and creature type)?
Alex takes it this week with Imitate. Woot woot!
As for the high activation cost of the Duplexion, I get where some of that might be coming from. If the ability you are activating is a mana ability with a high output, the can get very nasty, very fast. As an example, this can theoretically activate Kaleidostone. The text on The Duplexion is unclear, since it doesn't seem to acknowledge that there are other costs besides mana costs. But if it said "without paying its costs" and the activation was , then Duplexion plus Kaleidostone = infinite colored mana. Rewash that mana right back through the Kaleidostone and activate... let's say Rod of Ruin 700 times. Kaleidostone is dangerous because it provides two pieces in an infinite combo engine.
See everybody in (((NTC #073)))!
Agreed: Latin is a sweet language.
Also, nice card concept! Might be a bit over-costed though... I respect putting the cost so high to avoid broken combos, but frankly I don't see anyone playing this for so much mana when they could be playing big creatures or game-winning sorceries on similar turns.
I think I already made a similar card but it was an artifact. I think it was called The Duplexion Okay it's not that similar but maybe some Latin would help? Duplexion is basically Duplex Complexion which means double system. Latin is very cool.

That's roughly why I used to play one Rust way back in the day. It wasn't very good for anything, but it was cheap and tended to mess with the slow control decks. Sometimes I used it to counter a Jayemdae Tome activation, and that was fine. I used a card and to stop my opponent from gaining a card with . But sometimes it messed with the timing of a Nevinyrral's Disk activation, and my opponent who thought they had a sure thing was now knocked back on their heels. Admittedly, Crumble was probably the better choice, but Rust was more fun.
Oops, yes.
Now I look, I think most "copy ability" cards avoid letting you copy opponents'. So maybe that's the most useful thing to do with it, just have it as an answer in case opponent players any planeswalker ultimates.
Edit: Originally, I wrote how funny this would be with Lethal Vapors, but that's a non-bo. You'd be in control of the copies, so you'd be skipping all the turns. Ah well.
Sadly Isochron has a may clause, so this would get you an arbitrary number of magecraft triggers, but can't draw the game
My submission is Temporal Feedback, with flavor text "Roticapac rehtea eht otni kcab tog tnedor a, on ho!" - Nurap, Keraz Lar
Dittoclip
Wondering what the most fun thing to do is. Magosi the Waterveil? Planeswalker ultimate? Wait for the opponent to cast a "win the game" ability? But none of those can be really broken because there's already several repeatable "copy ability" cards.
If it works, the FUNNIEST thing to do would be to draw the game by copying Isochron Scepter, but that doesn't actually help you :)
