Oh, I don't think it's actually overpowered at
for 0/3 (Wall of Wood); it's just a jolly effective wall very early. I'd enjoy playing a constructed deck with 4 of these to function as early defence, removal in conjunction with pump spells of some kind, and finishers all in one card. It's a fun card... which actually sways me the other way to say, yeah, you know, let's leave this at the more efficient size to make it more playable.
Really? I figured rare status was good enough for a 0/3 with deathtouch. To be honest... I kind of don't know. it's a weird p/t for rare, to be sure.
Nifty!
I'm unsure about it being a 0/3 for
though. I might rather see 0/2 for
or 0/3 for
(more closely matching the Mangler).
Oops. While typing out the ability, it changed from discard to exile, when I realized it would be easier to keep track of the Mangler's power that way. Fixed, and thank you.
Discard...exile? Surely this isn't supposed to be a no-op in the absence of an effect like Rest in Peace.
Random Generator gave me Wasteland Viper and Riptide Mangler. Hole-filling, I could use a green rare, so I pulled them together into this. I figure that by the time the Mangler player can exile a crazy 12-power creature and swing, you've had enough time to respond to this creature. Maybe I'm wrong. This reminds me of Vitenka's question of "At what cost is deattouch for players printable?"
Random Generator gave me Karplusan Forest and Harmattan Efreet. Looking at what's left, I realize I need to do some hole filling for Green, and I struggle with this one, because I don't want to turn it into an anti-flying card. After all, I already have (goes back to the skeleton and does the math)... no anti-flying cards in common? Not even a creature with reach? Oh. Well, I guess this can be a good 13th pick answer then, eh?
Messing around with Harrmattan's flavor text, my first attempt was to reverse the order of events and end up with this:
"One moment, I was high as a drake. The next, I was staring down the face of an icy djinn. What a crazy trip." -Tarub, Suq'ata Opium Dealer
But I figured that was a bit too much, even for a fun set. I tried to imagine some sort of flavor text for Tarub that continued Tarub's story as a pawn between two powerful djinn that treat him like a rag-doll, flinging him around in the air... but there was too much explanation needed for how we got there. I figured it was better to get Tarub's take on djinn after a lifetime of similar situations happening to him.
Hmm. I think I wouldn't like to negate the newly enforced 4cc Land destruction limitation... but that could easily be an etb trigger on a 1/1 Dwarf for

. It kind of misses the Wheel of Fortune part, though... except for the... well... the wheel of fortune random nature to it. I guess it's more a flavor mash.
"Destroy a random land target player controls" as a common Land destruction? Possibly even costable at 3 again.
Random Generator gave me Dwarven Blastminer and Wheel of Fortune. That seemed sufficiently red... or maybe blue. I still had this one open Mythic red slot, though, (and two red common slots open... but I couldn't figure out how to make a common out of this combination) so I twisted and turned until I got this. Actually, what I really wanted to do was something with morph, but it's too late in the file for me to be creating whole new mechanics.
Fun mashup!
I once used Thoughtpicker Witch in conjunction with Bloodbond March and Sadistic Augermage to lock someone out of getting any nonland cards for about 10 turns. Unfortunately the cards they already had in hand were good enough to kill me, which may not be surprising when I'm playing cards as bad as Thoughtpicker Witch and Bloodbond March.
Hole filling black, I hit the random button until I got the black card Knucklebone Witch and then picked up Extract. Goblins become Kobolds in Mashup, and, since I was looking for a common, I de-rarified Extract's ability down to Thoughtpicker Witch's ability. I suppose this kind of card could be abusive for a common... except... you know... Thoughtpicker Witch.
