Random Generator gave me Inner-Flame Acolyte and Anti-Magic Aura. I can't see why red creatures wouldn't have protection from enchantments. I know they shouldn't be destroying enchantents, but they hate white, and don't like to be Pacify-ed. I had to compromise with this card using another color to get its evoke to work, though. It turns out that "Channel" is yet another useless word in Magic that stifles future designers because, since the word exists, the mechanic must be tied to Kamigawa in some way.
Ick. I just realized the Level Up ability sticks around, making this even more annoying. Will need to change.
Sad Face. You're right. I have no idea how I missed that this wouldn't be a green creature. I suppose I just willed it so.
Personally, I like the idea of flip lands. They look weird here, but if printed they would be a giant warning to your opponent, unlike many man lands that just look like non-basic utility lands. Unfortunately, removing the flip nature also does a number on the "Gain Level Counters, then lose Level Counters for an effect." Players will have to remember that a creature is active when they dump all the counters off of it. Not something I like. I'm switching it over, but this one requires more thinking.
I don't know about anybody else, but I'd find that super helpful. :)
Thank you. Let's go with the shorter version.
Ooh. Bug in the rules text. "The amount of damage you dealt to all opponents this turn" will almost always be zero. Should that be "amount of damage dealt to opponents this turn", or "amount of damage dealt to your opponents by sources you control this turn"?
Hmm... I could perhaps make Multiverse warn you if you try to navigate away from this page with an unposted comment in the comment box?
That is a heck of an odd card. Irritatingly, technically the flipped creature isn't green, because it has no mana cost and unlike Treetop Village it doesn't say it becomes green. I think I'd be inclined to ditch the whole flipping concept and just make this "As long as ~ has N or more (something) counters on it, it's a 3/3 Treefolk Warrior creature with trample". A gradual take on the Stalking Stones idea, or perhaps a less-gradual take on Dark Depths.
Argh! Another post that's missing my comments. How annoying. I'm evidently really bad at hitting the "Post Comment" button. This card is Sizzle and Raging Minotaur. I removed Haste, since I didn't feel that it added anything to the card. The simplest version seemed like a nice common, so I did that.
Unfortunately, I was going to be a little tied up no matter what I did. That is one hefty block of text, I admit, and while I like what it is doing, I'm still trying to take the knife to it. The funny thing is, that I could cut the first sentence right out if I was willing to write: "Bloodthirst X".
Indeed... thank you, Time Spiral. There wasn't any way this was coming out as a simple card, was there?
Doesn't look too broken to me. 5 cost and 5 activation is hefty.
Sizzle + Canyon Minotaur?
Random Generator gave me Fireball and Vibrating Sphere. Granted, I could have used Fireball's current wording for extra targeting, and I think that maybe I should. Multikicker is there, though, in case I start to make a lot of cards say Kicker on them. I always thought Kicker was a weird ability, since "When you cast this spell, you may pay an additional N. If you did..." seems like better form than doing the same thing but putting the word "Kicker" in front of it, then adding a line break between the two abilities. #GrumpyOldMagicPlayer
Random Generator gave me Land Tax and Kyren Legate. Neat. On (((Breaching Goblin))), SadisticMystic thought I might be making a creature for a goblin deck that makes the goblin deck choose to draw instead of play first. That was because of templating mistake, but with this card, it appears I have done exactly that. I could also see someone siding these out and in depending on if they won game one or game two.
I don't know. I dig the idea that blue likes options. I think Green has been saddled with Domain concepts because it can easily achieve it. But if I was to list the two colors that are least likely to accept that their philosphy may not always be the best way to do things, I would say White, then Green would be the two most closed minded colors. On the other hand, while blue thinks its way is best, if another colors view point is proven to be more effective, I could see blue act like a good scientist and say "I don't know what red is doing right, but it is achieving results and I have to respect the data."
