steal a creature or artifact for the turn? That could work!
I remember that Arc Trail was originally playtested at common before it turned out to be crazygood and dropkicked up to uncommon.
Premium common Removal. I assume the 1 damage is for thopter swatting?
I like the card as is. Ghirapur Gearcrafter is an incredibly strong card, so even if you can get a single
this card is already great. You gotta have some first pick cards for each archetype.
FWIW, this is also pretty hard to pull off turn 3 full power.
At common blue and red get the multi-
cards and other colors get the "just one" cards. That said, this is the only single
card in red...
Yeah, I didn't think about the CMC thing. Makes me like it even less.
What if it was just Threaten that could also take artifacts? Like a not useless Metallic Mastery?
I'm fine with it just making one token, but I can see how a Thatcher Revolt would be useful in the set.
Few cards should be exclusively in one archetype. Otoh, that means a couple can be.
If you miss on this card, it is really bad. This is a thopter environment and a 2/1 body just does not cut it at 3 mana. Could it get first strike, or an extra toughness, or something so that it does not trade with a thopter or gremlin at the very least? Or are we fine making a card that is exclusively aimed at Steam-powered limited, and is unplayable everywhere else?
We will have many steam-powered cards that require multiple
, which will make the set play differently from OotG, but that should not mean that all our cards should require multiple
. We do need some cards that give a gentle nudge toward colourless, but that do not require you be all-in to be effective. We just need to limit the number of those cards to less than the ones that reward you for really committing, like Thopter Hermit.
Right now, I admit we do need a bit more of the latter.
I feel like our steampowered stuff needs to require multiple
, if we want for it to feel and play different when compared to Oath. In Oath, you splash
, we want our steampowered deck to go all-in on
.
Twobrid mana makes this card a massive trap for people who don't understand how CMC works. I feel like if we're going to do anything involving CMC-matters, it should be at least uncommon+ and they should focus on "Equal to the CMC" (eg. Æther Mutation) rather than "less than CMC" (eg. Horribly Awry) since "equal" works well with Twobrid and "less than" works worse with it.
We could reprint Act of treason or traitorous blood here. That would be safe. As a last ditch suggestion, what if we made the creature an artifact as a twist?
will have the thopter generals doing artifact tribal, so this could give some random bonuses to a stolen creature.
Reforged

sorcery
Gain control of target creature until end of turn. Untap that creature. It gains haste and is an artifact in addition to its other types until end of turn.
After submitting this, I realized it would be better off as a 3 or 4 mana sorcery that produces 2 tokens instead. As it is, it really is a creature, not a spell. More a Impetuous Sunchaser than Thatcher Revolt
This feels like its a bit too similar to Scary Manager
Not a big fan of this. I would rather just have a sorcery that was cheaper and took anything. The main problem is that this costs so much you can't really hope to steal + exploit, which should at least be a possibility IMO.
This seems like a really awkward card, something from early magic. I feel like we could do more with this slot.
Why is this an instant? Red rarely gets flash type creatures like this, and the haste part of the spell doesn't care either.
This seems like a pretty random card with no connections to anything. Not a problem but maybe a potential spot for something else
