Why is this an instant? Red rarely gets flash type creatures like this, and the haste part of the spell doesn't care either.
After submitting this, I realized it would be better off as a 3 or 4 mana sorcery that produces 2 tokens instead. As it is, it really is a creature, not a spell. More a Impetuous Sunchaser than Thatcher Revolt
I'm fine with it just making one token, but I can see how a Thatcher Revolt would be useful in the set.
This is excellent. Making it an instant allows it to double as "1 damage to attacking creature", which is cool iyam.
But it also allows it to triple as "prevent all damage target attacking creature would deal this turn" which feels decidedly un-red.
I think, regardless of whether this turns into a Thatcher's Revolt-esque card, it should be sorcery. The last instant-speed token generator was Spawning Breath and that was ~6 years ago. I think it's safe to say red normally doesn't get that kind of effect.
Besides, Haste and Flash/instant-speed generally work counter to one another. If you one, you don't need the other and vis-versa.
Sorcery with two thopters and haste granting. Though at that stage the haste granting isn't really relevant.
If only this could have Rebound...
