Does this need "if a source of your choice..."? I'm just trying to figure out the timing when multiple creatures hit a planeswalker simultaneously.

Poor doggo might transform without a planeswalker to defend no more, but you can't protec against every scenario.

"if a source of your choice..." is usually used for activated abilities and spell abilities, right? If you have to choose an ability before the event takes place due to stack shenannigans. The same wouldn't be true here for this static ability.

Here is how the static ability will work with e. g. combat damage from multiple sources:

• Multiple sources are about to deal combat damage to one or more planeswalkers you control.
• For each of those sources the static ability creates a replacement effect involving a choice to transform doggo. You choose the order to apply those replacement effects.
• For each damage event you get a chice to ransform the doggo, and the damage is only prevented if you do - otherwise the event/damage goes through unaltered.

FAQ: May I transform the doggo twice and prevent the damage from two sources while at the same time keep it in protec mode? A: I couldn't find precedence either way, and there are arguments both way. On the one hand the replacement effects all are created at the same time and only applied in order, so multiple transformations seem possible. From the cases I know this should be "yes". The issue is that transforming is optional.

A better solution for everyone's sanity:

> ": The next time a source of your choicce would deal damage to a planeswalker you control, prevent that damage and transform and untap ~."

Now an activated ability it contains the phrase "of your choice" as had been pointed out.

No, they've updated the rules on transform so that if there are multiple abilities on the stack instructing you to transform a card, only the first one does anything. That's why I made the damage prevention contingent on transforming, so that it only applies to a single source of damage

@dude1818: Thanks for the rules clarification. I forgot they hard-coded in that exception. Just shows the drawback of making your designs works by patching then rules. :)

• grows in size in increments of +2/+2
