Card design challenge: a character from another game. This version of Elise is mechanically closer, but draft-matters cards are pretty terrible. See Elise the Trailblazer.

Wait, draft a poile of extra cards to yourself AND you and your teammates get to draw a card, as a mulldrifter++ ? That's... rather cheap for the effect, isn't it?

I don't think a 3 mana 2/3 that cantrips is pushing it. The mana cost is sort of irrelevant to the draft ability, and I think you're overestimating the value of adding a random booster pack to your picks (in a normal set, at least).

It depends. Is everyone drafting an extra pack? Or is everyone drafting only one pack, starting with you? Because if it's the latter, this card comes with an automatic pack one, pick one. Which means that I auto-draft this card even if I'm not playing blue. Because I most definitely don't want sixth pick out of the bonus pack.

Otherwise, a 2/3 cantrip at mythic is fine. I might draft Air Elemental over that (depends on the environment.) She's very strong in 2HG... but there are a number of cards that are spontaneously strong or weak in 2HG. It doesn't seem worth it to dump on this card in particular.

Neither. You're opening a booster pack and taking all 15 cards. She's definitely always P1P1-worthy, although in packs 2 or 3 I feel like the value of random extra cards decreases.

Huh. I suppose if you're comfortable with always P1P1, then that makes sense. I'm not, but Wizards seems to be, so Bob's your uncle.

Though, I don't see why this couldn't just be a one time Booster Tutor. That already seems powerful enough for an automatic pack 1, pick 1. Barring, of course, you come across The Perfect Uncommon™.

I was trying to match the Hearthstone card more closely, which adds a (5 card) booster pack to your deck. When you "play" it, it adds the cards to your hand

So ETB: Booster tutor?
Except it's the same booster every time?

That seems pretty nifty.

The original card? Yeah. Well, same set each time, is what I assume you mean

So, I thought about a variant that is less mythic, but also something that actually makes drafting the card more of a decision: Elise the Trailblazer.

I like that one. It should still be p1p1 if there's any chance you could be Blue. But it's not automatic, you could completely whiff, and it's going to slowly lose value (or build in value) over the course of the tournament.

I agree with jmg. That's still a really neat design
