If it's a permanent effect, it should really be a trigger. Also, should you mention in reminder text that this remains blocking/blocked even after the other thing loses flying?

Though, maybe it's best to just make a new set? I don't know how far we can go with this, but I'd gladly seed 5 cards just to make sure it has something in it (and to stop us from overrun the new challenges with reinterpreted cards.

For Challenge # 139, based on King Suleiman. Instead of destroying Djinns, I figured I'd dredge out the whole 'cuts a baby in half' trick Solomon used to perform before a live studio audience.
This isn't quite that, and the card runs too long. But when you try to squeeze a whole parable onto a Magic card, things are bound to get a little silly.

I don't always bother to develop my throwaway designs, but any suggestions for something similar which would avoid the problems but preferably still have interesting interactions?
Turn 1 Dark Depths, turn 2 Island. As if that deck needs even more enablers.
Strip Mine or Wasteland could be promising targets as well, since you can blow things up without losing the original land, kind of like a much cheaper, multi-use Dust Bowl.

Good point. I was goign to use sorcery but originally it let you UNTAP too, so I wanted to let you do that after attacking, but that didn't work as well with the flavour. Now that doesn't matter, sorcery it is.
Maybe "community mash-up set" should be expanded to be "mash-up or reinterpretation" set? :)

For Challenge # 139. It turns out 139 is like popcorn.
Anyhow, my initial idea was to make a Drake that snapped the sails off of boats. Not sure what that meant, I searched for the word 'sail' on Gatherer. Not counting Duergar Assailant, there are 7 cards with the word sail; all of which either fly or grant flying. How weird. I guess this drake breaks wind sails then, eh?
Make it a sorcery, and maybe you could argue more blueness? I know that sounds irrelevant, but it currently grants +1/+1 and it's a combat trick. At least sorcery speed would make it look less like a G/W spell. And if you plan on tapping and attacking, you're gonna do it before combat anyway...

I kept going back and forth on this. I wanted something with a flavour of "the seas rush up and overwhelm everyone" and I considered lots of different ways of doing that. I quite like this, but I'm not sure it's blue...
It's meant for multiplayer. Presumably this guy if at the head of a group hug deck, so it lets other players hug you back a bit.
Heh. Well, this is well balanced, at least: Lore Broker.
It reads fine to me. Though untap for white is a little odd: white does get to untap its own creatures, but I think it's tertiary in it, where green and blue do it rather more.
Balance: seems about right. Compare Iwamori of the Open Fist and Hunted Wumpus (and Tempting Wurm / Boldwyr Heavyweights for the more extreme versions).
