I made Rotters' Command
See Challenge # 123.
I love me some Golgari.
Sign in Blood
Rampant Growth-partially
Vraska the Unseen, expanded to land since land destruction seems secondary in green and tertiary in black.
Eternal Witness partially with Disentomb
Made Aspect Mage. Don't plan to fill out the cycle, though. This challenge is harder than it looks... though, I probably should have worked to find that CD first...
Oh, also thought about naming this creature a 'Commander' for the pun, and making him Legendary, because I would kind of have to at that point. But I needed a shorter name to help with this lengthy text.
For Challenge # 123. I decided to do something a little different and made a modal creature. Unfortunately, it ran a little long.
Jack wasn't kidding when he said "finding unambiguously gold effects is really quite hard." I did this challenge 'backwards' and came up with C, D and C/D first. I didn't want to staple two abilities together in the fourth, so I went to Gatherer for some help on CD. Of all the WU cards, I only found two: Reparations (and Reparations Sliver), Restore the Peace and Meddling Mage/Detention Sphere. I also toyed around with the line "Counter the first spell target player casts on their next turn" as a sort of middle ground between Hibernation and Silence. But this card was so aura focused, it would have been weird to change gears right at the end. Took me a while to get Oblivion Ring plus return the auras. Hopefully, it doesn't look as stapled as a number of other weak choices I could have used.
Mmm. My first thought on that fourth ability was "Perhaps this should say 'you choose how target creature attacks or blocks this turn' just to keep it in line with the other spells." But that Battleshaper seems to not care about all that goofiness.
Yeah, that's a better plan. "Otherwise" is a standard template - Armament of Nyx, Brood Birthing etc. There's even precedent for "Otherwise, if" - albeit in silver border: Free-Range Chicken :)
good plan
LOL. Oh very good conversion! It's still a bit narrow, but could just about be printed for flavour in the right set :) I can't believe you found a way to capture the double-lifelink :)
How about "Else/otherwise, if that creature is an elephant..."?
Having another go at Psichic Ankus for Challenge # 068. I think this has a fair go at the instant and double lifelink.
This could be an artifact with flash and sacrifice, but I think making it a black instant makes more sense. On the other hand, the artifact could actually have lifelink, like Seal of Chastisement. Well, Soulfire Grand Master shows this could have lifelink too, but that'd be weird for the sake of it given the precedent of Douse in Gloom etc.
I'm not hugely keen on the way this gains 9 life hitting a Changeling, but I can't find a common-suitable phrasing that avoids that: adding "instead" after the final word makes it look like it might replace the damage as well as the earlier lifegain.
Ooh. Kicker plus Replicate is powerful, as all copies get the kicker bonus. An EDH ramp deck could cast this kicked and replicated 3-4 times... though admittedly that'll often not be doing much more than Blatant Thievery plus Collective Blessing.
Added Mirror Mastery. Wasn't planning to. I just felt I had to after I saw Alex's Scrutinise the Unseen.
Kind of for Challenge # 123? Maybe? After I saw Alex made Scrutinise the Unseen I felt I had to commit this idea to 'paper'. Even if it is too long. I'm just really surprised someone else was toying around with space that I was thinking of using.
In case you're wondering: Convoke is Green, Replicate is Blue, Buyback is Blue or Green, and Kicker could be any color, but the kicker warps this into a card that can only be Green/Blue
I forgot how proud I was of this entry. There's just SO MANY different things wrong with it. In retrospect I should have tried to squeeze a real name and some profanity on there somewhere :)
The first card I actually thought was Rod of Ruin, because there's never enough punishment someone who plays Rod of Ruin should receive. Also, was the name a reference to how Ashiok was conceived as a "dark Jace"?
Good things to hit with this: Pestilence (or Pestilence Demon). Bad things: Not much, really. Sorrow's Path?
Oh yes, interesting!
That's true. I'm not sure I could really make Multiverse detect that though. At the moment Multiverse never even looks at the image you supply at all; the URL gets sent to the user's browser without me even checking it's http:// rather than some other protocol. (I guess it'd be possible to make a private cardset using images with file:/// URIs that only works on one computer, if you wanted.)
"Unfortunately, I don't always use the same computer" - I've had success with storing things in Dropbox, and just using MSE on whatever computer I'm on, pointing at the .mse file saved in Dropbox. As long as you have both Dropbox and Picasa monitoring the same directory on one computer, that ought to work.
Another case I've noticed with noyahuid's Starcraft set: if someone uses Import Data to bulk-update a lot of cards, those cards don't get "edited" logs although in that case Multiverse does know that something's changed.
My edits update automatically when I change the card in MSE (I have Picassa installed on my computer, so updates to MSE auto-update in the cloud... and here.) Unfortunately, I don't always use the same computer...
Also unfortunate: Edits made this way don't appear in the log. I have to actively say something to acknowledge it happened... like in this case where the image was updated, and you made a comment after the image was updated, Link, but before I said anything. I'm pretty sure this is bound to some misguided comment at some point...
Created Ashiok, Sculptor of Horrors.
middle ability cost from [-1] to [0] by comparison with Honden of Night's Reach
Created for Challenge #127. I thought of a Planeswalker-into-Aura transition, and was reminded of Soul Seizer. That made me think of Ashiok. The tricky bit was coming up with a text box for the reverse side that's long enough that it merits using a DFC rather than just an extra sentence in the effect putting the card onto the battlefield. Turning anything into a Mindleech Mass seemed like a nifty option.
Your edits would be easier if you just posted these as Multiverse mockups. :-)
Oh, yes, silly me. That wasn't the intent. One more thing to edit.
Ooh, yes, this shouldn't be Blood Feud / Reckless Spite!
Though Malicious Affliction shows you can get something pretty close for 2 mana at rare, actually... hmm.
FWIW, I find the one-line version easier to read, but I don't know which wizards would go with.
And presumably "target creature you control"?
