Jmgariepy: You mean something like Guardian Idol? Or Sphere of the Suns?
, hence the Boros Keyrune cycle, and the Abzan Banner cycle, and Vessel of the Endless and friends.
I got the idea that the exact problem with mana rocks was that their cheapness infringed on Green's slice of the pie. The other colors no longer get access to ramp below
Ah! I was sure it must exist already, but didn't find it in a quick search. I'm glad I got the cost about right :)
March of Souls, but more easily recurred, for 1 mana more. Reasonable, I guess.
Sol Ring wasn't reprinted in a normal expansion. It's been reprinted in every Commander deck, because it's deemed fair for Commander but not normal expansions.

Sol Ring got a recent reprint? That's like the opposite of what you wanted ;)
I really wish they'd just print an artifact that costs
and taps for
, just so we have a standard to work with. Maybe even enters the battlefield tapped, or some other minor drawback. Seems the problem with the mana rocks wasn't that they were too cheap, but that they were too plentiful. Sticking to "there's only one that's reasonable to print at
" would solve much of that.
For
more, Pristine Talisman gets to unconditionally produce life and mana, so this seemed fair to me.
I think the exact abilities on this need to be tweaked to something appropriate (not sure what, even the lifegain may be too strong given Ajani's Mantra), but I really like the concept of a mossy rock, and the "sometimes produce mana" idea for a cheaper lesser mana rock.
See Ugin's Aid.
Realized wording was more complicated than was necessary. Cheapened mana cost of the ability and added
to the cost.
This came about as I pondered artifact mana acceleration and how it's not allowed to happen below 3 CMC anymore outside of green.
You're right.
Until this moment I didn't know that Gainsay was a reprint.
Sensible. The third incarnation of Flashfreeze and Gainsay.
Flashfreeze for a wedge set (this could have Temur flavour), or some other set that inverts the normal ally relationships like Apocalypse (cf Spectral Lynx).
That's a weird combination of a white condition and a green condition.
Well, "If a planeswalker is removed from combat, it stops being attacked" is explicitly the line in the comp rules that inspired this.
Not sure such a planeswalker is technically in the combat under current rules; but the meaning is certainly clear.
When it's being attacked.
Second question: When would a Planeswalker ever be involved in combat when it wasn't already a creature?
Why would someone want to remove a non-attacking, non-blocking creature from combat though? I think it being too wordy just makes it harder to parse.
I felt it was better to be more clear than I needed to be than less.
Blue is the only color that has no convoke spells, so this might be breaking the color pie rules. Still, I thought it was too interesting not to share. Basically a variant on Logic Knot.
Why not just "remove target creature or planeswalker you control from combat"? You don't need to clarify that creatures in combat are attacking or blocking.
