Does anybody have a can opener? I have some worms.
Oh! I didn't know about that token. I'll drop the 'all colors' thing to make it consistent on the main card too.
FWIW I'd suggest you make the tokens colourless rather than all colours. That way players can reuse any of the original Changeling token that was used by Crib Swap if they happen to have any (like I do :P).
See Covenant of Service.
See Gelamum, Pack Intruder.
See Elspeth's Sword.
This compares fairly well to Lone Missionary. Which was rather good in its day.
In fact, this is an interesting comparison to Aven Riftwatcher.
Tireless Missionaries can take a break now, I think.
Consensus seems to be that Wizards finally landed on a decent version of Coma Veil with Claustrophobia, so I decided to mess with the scope and mechanics a bit.
A rework of Takeno's Cavalry... EDH loves Horsemanship, after all.
Well, this breaks it down to the basic essence of the card... I had the counter mechanic originally to kinda mirror the original cumulative upkeep but the restriction on casting anything else in the meantime is probably drawback enough.
One of the gatherer comments on the original suggested that a 2 mana:1 life ratio was considered normal at the time, so maybe the best equivalent would be just to change "
: gain 1 life" to "[1}: gain 1 life". That wouldn't be bad, a stream of life you can use on one turn, and again on the next turn most of the time, and maybe several more turns if you don't draw anything useful. Although it still looks awful, so maybe it should change to a simpler version with a similar effect.
Quadrupled? That seems absurd to me, but... well, yeah, casting spells is normally seen as a good thing. And gaining life probably isn't what you want to be doing in the early game. Still, that's a pretty strong effect for a dead hand to have. Hmm...
