Even though it costs 1, it's an exceptionally poor turn 1 play. All the opponent has to do is pass back at their next turn without dropping a creature, and it automatically kills itself.
Yowch. Yes, putting -1/-1 counters on arbitrary creatures definitely requires black, and also definitely needs to cost more than
. Making large swathes of creatures unable to attack or block is white; Kulrath Knight is a weird colour-pie-breaker who shouldn't be used as precedent.
A Wheel of Sun and Moon as a one-drop legend. Fair enough; pretty weird, but no problem.
I like this a lot in theory, but it has a few issues. The first is that it shouldn't cost only one mana. The second is that it doesn't fit as a
hybrid. It doesn't fit in any one color, really, in a set where the normal color pie isin use. It's
(not
), though it could possibly be
in, say, New Phyrexia, where all the colors leaned toward black.
I would instantly put this in my Seismic Assault/Treasure Hunt deck.
slowin' it down a little from draw 2 to draw 1
blue-black to white-blue
Then I guess the compromise is to make him
!
If this were mono-blue it would go straight into my Ephara, God of the Polis EDH deck.
Twofold: one, coming up with some more commander-worthy 1-cost creatures. Two, the idea was to have a dude to build ETB triggers around but I realize these are the wrong colors (I defaulted to black cuz of shadow which was a flavor choice)... blue's good for those kinds of effects, but white and green are better.
already has Rhys the Redeemed, though... maybe change cost to

and make it 2/3, then come up with something else for
.
Hmm, I'll try it without the last bit.
