Interesting idea.
I think Gustcloak as printed before (eg Gustcloak Harrier) wouldn't actually be a good fit, because the opportunity to rollback is too early - people can just play their combat tricks afterwards. But that could be fixed by giving creatures the Reconnaissance ability instead.
I'll give it some thought.
Another thought - Gustcloak as a mechanic for "Yeah, ok, that would be a bad idea, so we won't do that". Implemented as a rollback, but still gives the right 'sneaky planning' impression.
was "When ~ becomes blocked by a creature, if you control fewer". that seemed too hard to trigger safely.
...You're right, this probably should itself be an Aura (like Carry Away was). Very sensible suggestion, thank you.
I wonder if it might be problematic to bypass Equip costs? Probably not - Kor Outfitter did that at common at 2 mana, so I'm sure that's fine.
I think it would be better to make this one an Aura with "enchant Equipment or Aura", with an ETB ability to change what the enchanted thing is attached to. For Auras, 99% of time it doesn't matter who controls it, but that's important for Equipment due to the Equip ability.
Reprint of Surprise Deployment. I'm not hugely attached to this, but it's a fun card that deserves more exposure, and it'd certainly fit the themes of the set.
Name-change reprint of Scout's Warning. I don't see any reason why Scout's Warning has to be rare, so I'll try this at uncommon, at least at first.
Not sure if the set will have room for both this and Surprise Deployment though.
I mentioned I'd like a Magnetic Theft effect in the set, and I think I still would. But I also want some kind of permanent control-change effect for an Equipment. I think that ought to be blue, as it's Carry Away meets Aura Graft.
Could be an instant, but though this set wants a higher-than-usual level of instants, MaRo has been clear in the past that you don't want everything to happen at instant speed.
Technically this can target an Aura with enchant player (e.g. Curse of Exhaustion) or enchant land (Fertile Ground). It won't normally do much, as the "attach to a creature you control" clause will fail to do anything. I'd rather leave the simpler wording rather than try to spell out "Aura with enchant creature or enchant permanent" (which still fails to get Encrust, Wurmweaver Coil etc). I don't want to go with Aura Graft's "that's attached to a permanent" wording either, because the moment in the series this best matches is when Lelouch makes off with the prototype Gawain IFX-V301, which was on a deserted island, most definitely not "attached to a creature".
Wondering what green would do for control-change effects as discussed on Debt of Loyalty. It's possible there could be some kind of "Alpha Domination" or "Awe with Strength", but my feeling is green is most likely to actually undo control-change effects, as on Brooding Saurian. This is a Brand that you can cantrip even if you use it.
sorcery, not instant
As mentioned on Debt of Loyalty, I'd like some non-red non-blue control change effects. Black has precedent in Enslave, but slavery isn't a concept that's particularly prominent in the series (and Enslave is also from Planar Chaos), so this is a top-down design based on the concept of blackmailing an enemy to your side, as Lelouch does with Villetta (who he already used his Geass on much earlier).
It's probably a lot easier to trigger than Debt of Loyalty. Cost is a guess, but might need to be a bit higher. (Though for 5 mana you can just get flat-out Mind Control...)
As discussed on Freedom Fighter, another possible Black Knights mechanic.
One drawback to that: it makes this look remarkably similar to Bloodrush now, as on Wasteland Viper and friends...
I am open to reconsidering whether this (and Furious Rebel) should be able to target any creature.
attacking
It should at least match Furious Rebel, so for the moment, let's say yes.
Should the channel ability only target attacking creatures?
First stabs at the cycle taken with Compassionate Athlete, Persistent Sergeant, Furious Rebel and Belligerent Brawler.
Continuing the cycle from Fleetfoot Ninja.
This could be a straight 3/3 trample with Channel - trample. I thought it'd be nicer if the combat trick mode on some of these granted P/T bonuses, so I made this worse at blocking for the sake of being better at channelling. Could easily go back the other way though.
