Chandra no longer has human pets. Made the card blacker, and made it a 1/1, mostly because if your opponent is trying to win, you'll lose life once per each of their turns. I fully expect this card to be very strong.
Went to 3 mana to be safe. I think alone the card is not too disruptive, but in multiples it might be a problem. At least it's pretty dead late game. Reduced power to 0 too.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking--I only have three of each tribe at common, and I lean a bit tribal in my core--uncommon lords, and another tribal at rare
Hooray inaccurate legacy text.
Fits in with thrull theme. Also, you automatically get your opponent to sac something before you lose him, so at worst it's an innocent blood.

Took the card in a new direction.
Given damage doesn't stack, I don't it's a huge problem.
Sure, you can abuse someone's removal or combat trick, but Skulltap was never even close to being a good card, and I want this to be usable.
Will keep an eye on it when playtesting. I assume going +1/+2 will sufficiently fix it if it's a bit too good.
Edit: changed
I think based off of Renewed Faith making it an instant would be acceptable. You lose versatility and uncounterability for one extra life.
Card changed due to overabundance of similar effects. Tension is no longer an issue.
Red x button = delete.

One of my goals was to give the tribal lords more support inside the set. It makes them good archetypal cards.
Went with 2/2. This is the kind of card that often looks too powerful, but rarely is
Three 1/1 fliers is fine. Battle Screech and Spectral Procession provide ample precedent.
The Excommunicate locking does seem like it could get annoying. Increased the cost to -2.
Yeah--maybe at 2 and 2 it can be tested--but wolfer doesn't normally design his sets for constructed that much.

Well, it's like Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, but not quite as universal. I might say 3 mana rather than 2, but it doesn't seem broken.
Love the name.
^ How about three 1/1 fliers for that price?
