Yeah I caught that myself, my bad - very early draft. It's based on a weapon from an OLD cartoon. Basically a magical double lightsaber (like Darth Maul's) but that can separate into two separate blades.
Very early design. The sword in question is from the Hawkmoon novels by Michael Moorcock. Whenever it kills a creature, that creature is trapped in the sword until summoned to fight for the blade's wielder, then it moves on. Yes in the books you need two other artifacts for the sword to work but.....artistic license and all.....
In the books, the sword drinks the souls of its victims and can impart the power of those stolen souls to it's user (usually Elric who is an albino). the more souls it has stolen, the more powerful it can make its wielder.
I don't know anything about the flavor that you're referencing, but it seems like there should be some initial bonus, as it's kinda sad that this equipment has no immediate impact until the equipped creature has tangled with some other goon. I'd almost suggest just entirely removing the tension between the P/T bonus and the Regeneration effect, just have it give a static bonus of like +3/+1 (to mirror Dark Favor).
Plus, you can always play it on yourself - especially if your opponent isn't running infect and you are stalled.
yeah he is pretty much - though more of a reverse-germ :-)
Heh, Elric is a germ.

This, Sword of the Dawn and Stormbringer, the Black Blade are part of my "Great Weapons of Fantasy" series I'm playing around with.
Each Golden Lance will give it +2/+2, for a total of +4/+4. That seems a bit over-the-top.

Cool concept and solid design so far.
And here is the man himself. I didn't give him a racial type as Melnibonean is way too long.
A fairly early draft to try and create Elric's sword Stormbringer as a magic card.
Yep, looks better.
