The red one I'm working on. Red has it fair share of card drawing stuff, but always at the cost of randomly discarding. Hmmm.

Well, that'd have to be ", Pay 1 life". Which is fine, but there's basically no difference between the red and black ones. (Incidentally, the black one is fine colour-pie-wise, but the red one is distinctly dubious.)

you could line this up with Brilliant Mentor by making it

"Lose 1 life, : Draw a card." The Red one - Impatient Mentor wouldn't work this way though. Although, having it the only one worded differently would play into the flavour of the card...

"I'm too impatient to wait for 'correct' wording!!!"

Hmmm. Yeah, I know the ability reads strangely, but I was trying to have something along the same lines as my other mentors: (((Sadistic Mentor))) and Impatient Mentor.

Well, actually it's even more confusing than that. Because the ability has a target, the target needs to still be legal when the ability resolves or the whole thing will be countered.

But yeah, it should read as Camruth said.

interesting idea, should read "Tap an untapped creature you control, : Draw a card." to make tapping a creature part of the cost not the effect. The way it is currently worder, you tap this, draw a card, and THEN see if there is an untapped creature to tap, if not...oh well card is already drawn.
