Premise:

The basic premise is that a powerful planeswalker of old discovered a relatively uninhabited plane and began engineering it to be a colosseum where creatures from all across the planes could fight for his amusement. Every denizen of the plane plays the game and the prize is ultimate freedom in the form of his planeswalker spark.

Mechanics:

Double strike (This creature deals first strike and regular combat damage.)

First strike (This creature deals combat damage before creatures without first strike.)

Provoke (When this creature attacks, you may have target creature an opponent controls untap and block it if able.)

Themes:

One of the main themes is combat (it is an arena after all). As such creatures have combat abilities that make them more powerful blockers or attackers.

Traps

The traps first debuted in Zendikar and are completely flavorful for this set.

Player Auras

Aura's that actually effect an individual player.

Creature Numbers

Many creatures rely on having more or fewer creatures than your opponent.

Bloodied

Some creatures, mainly black and red, have effects that require an opponent to be at 10 life or less. Also blue, green, and white.
