Just out of curiosity and because many card creators assume wrongly: Is it intentional that this has only a single target that gets dealt all the damage?
Fun thing is that this actually seems like it would deal more damage per mana with Anointed Procession which is unusual, but in a fun way.
I added it as a temporary counterpoint for the Forests/Islands/Plains matter mechanic as well as a way to use +1/+1 counters in a way other than just beefing stuff up.
If anything, for the cost, I may make the land conversion permanent.
I thought cards only look at the existence of basic land types among lands you control in this set, so playing this black card means you likely already control a Swamp.
Is this just mana fixing? Is there swampwalk? Neither seems to really justify a five mana 3/3 that becomes even less for a temporary fix.
I feel, if you create such charms, you want to go for something like a mode and a mode that entwine only in the presence of white/Plains. But I don't recognize any such pattern except "green options and blue options (and if we chose Mountain instead of Plains there would be no color pie difference)".
Yeah; sets get to do that. It does have the problem that you ideally want to be a bit generic; so that future sets can riff on it. And if you can find something that is affected by older cards, that's nice too.
The former would argue for "Idol" or similar. The latter... well; I can't think of anything that actually buffs constructs, so nothing really there.
But this is evocative and I have zero problems with it. And now this costs 3, the card seems fine. Though I really really want to find some engine that lets me, I dunno, turn Moai into birds, and then the birds into +1/+1 counters.
The reason for the new Moai creature type is specifically a flavor thing. They’re a direct pull from South Pacific cultures, and they don’t really behave like your typical Constructs. They’re not Walls either; they have a mysterious quality that I wanted to capture, and giving them their own creature type gives them an opportunity to have their own thematic-mechanical identity.
I dunno; the wording is flexible enough. Sure; it's basically a functional Mind Rot reprint, but the tiny extra bit of flexibility for multiplayer or playing madness, seems useful.
I think I'd not even be mad if this was - it's such a straightforward "mostly better in multiplayer only, but still not really since it doesn't even scale with player number" effect compared to Mind Rot.
What's the most extreme thing this adds to 1v1? Having an opponent discard oe, but also discard a card yourself fo r some combo?
I think a modal "Target opponent discards two; or each opponent discards one." would be more appreciated.
I don't see the reason to have a separate Moai creature type. Statues are usually Constructs or Golems - and if they were neither I'd use Statue rather than having a creature type for a specific one.

That's some high cost for... what exactly?

Good point. Updated.
How about Drone Defender, Dwarven Trainer, Chess King?

Does blue get 2/3 bears with updside?
No, no it does not. That was a costing error.

> I wonder what this card used to be? Ah well.
~'Deal 2 damage to creature; or destroy artifact creature.' 99% certain.
Yeah, the cost-effect ratio is off.

Does blue get 2/3 bears with updside? That seems a bit stronger than usual.
The idea for the upside I like, mind you.
