Looking at this as a variant of Reassembling Skeleton it is meh. As a variant on Squee it seems you wouldn't care about the body too much. It works nicely as infinite discard fodder, but there are cards that let you draw cards for less than five mana.
Overall this feels more like a mechanical space for a Johnny-rare than an uncommon.
EDIT: Now that changes a lot... I say worse than the quiet oppressive Selesnya Evangel is a good thing. I'd prefer keeping the Saproling mono-green.
Lacks p/t.
Certainly a neat idea. It's actually propagating rather than reincarnating.
Weird that lavabirds are Phoenix creatures, but Tradewind Fireclaw is an Elemental Bird creature.

Saw all kinds of problems with the initial build. Changed considerably.
Should this say other creature cards? Also, it's a 3 mana 1/1 virtual vanilla, which sucks. Can it be a bit more meaningful, like a 4 mana 2/2?
Removed Trek from this card for wordiness issues.
How about turning it into a static ability on cards with Trek?
The second ability cannot be a triggered ability.
"At the beginning of combat during your turn" seems like a better timing than "At the beginning of your upkeep".
