Cenotaph. Damn good word.
Unfortunately, that rule isn't really followed by Wizards any more, due to their recent policy that 2cmc ramp doesn't belong in colors other than green.
This will be expanded into a cycle of mana artifacts - one for each colour.
well yes it is but I meant it wasn't a strong example of such.
This isn't anything BUT a regeneration-hosing card. But yes, it is something different from regeneration-hosing removal, which is more precisely what Wizards doesn't like right now.
I get the point but this isn't exactly a Regeneration Hosing card though - It's a 1/1 for 1 that sometimes can stop a regenerator - it's not like its an Incinerate or Disintegrate
I like this, and I'm fine with it, but note that it does somewhat go against Wizards policy of making regeneration relevant by not hosing it.
changed the counters from going on in the end step a-la Whirling Dervish to as soon as the damage is dealt a-la Slith Predator
This is basically Slith Predator and Whirling Dervish (which was the original inspiration for the card) mashed together :)
Though, I guess it's not just me. I just looked him up on Gatherer. Slith Predator has 3.76 stars, which shows he's still a viable and playable choice.
For what it's worth, I know Slith Predator wasn't powerful in Mirrodin, and isn't powerful now, but I loved playing with him and Hystrodon and a deck full of 12x Giant Growth effects (including 6 that scryed or cantriped). My opponents often couldn't believe my 'luck' when I dropped Growth after Growth effect on the table, saving my dude, dealing damage and making my guy bigger, or drawing yet another (Giant Growth) card. I never got a "I don't want to play against that deck anymore", but I did see quite a bit of squirming.
I do love this with creatures. Gilder Bairn is a fan.
Ideally, you want this on one casting cost etb trigger creatures. There aren't many of those, it's true. But I could see someone go: Round 1 - Elvish Pioneer. Round 2 - Land drop, Cast this, tap Pioneers, cast a 3cc creature, because, you know, why not? I got the up. Get ready to cast a Titan next turn.
I guess this is very good on creatures. Infinite mana with Pili-Pala, or with Leech Bonder or Puresight Merrow plus a mana-washer.
I agree this is a different enough tweak on Overgrowth / Greenweaver Druid that it has a role.
