Green absolutely cannot destroy creatures other than with fight. All of those you listed (except Beast Within) are fine. Bramblecrush is a nice card.
I could dilute this down to Bramblecrush renamed to fit the set.
Both valid arguments (and no Ancestral Recall & Sol Ring are far too powerful).
I reprinted this for my set because thematically & flavourwise it was a perfect fit. I did not expect such a strong backlash.
But don't forget about cards like Bramblecrush, Creeping Mold, Beast Within, Acidic Slime, etc?
@Camruth: Five of those sets were printed in the 20th century. One of those sets you're citing is Online Masters, the point of which is to reprint old cards so they can exist for Magic Online play only. The other two sets include reprints of Ancestral Recall and Sol Ring. Do you believe Ancestral Recall and Sol Ring are fair game to reprint, too?
This has never been a green effect. There are bad designers even at Wizards who don't understand why the color pie exists, and it's those people who print shit like this and Hornet Queen. Literally none of the sets it's been printed in are valid for arguing that this card is okay.
First Printed in Arabian Nights, Last printed in Commander 2014. Printed in a total of 8 different products over the years. It is a direct reprint from the actual magic card. If WoTC is happy to keep reprinting it then I am happy to use it.
This card is not acceptable in mono-green. GB or WB only.
I'll keep an eye on it in testing may indeed be a better cost...we'll see.
Okay, I guess Rolling Thunder in Plague Wind mode could still send a couple of points to the dome. I still think currently this is way better than Rolling Thunder which is a 4.2 star card, so I'd say this would be plenty good enough at .
Yeah I looked at all the rare X burn spells that have been printed when making this card. The choice of creatures OR players was made for tension.
Just the first mode would be more efficient than Rolling Thunder has been printed before.
changed 2nd choice from "deals X damage to target player" to make it better in multiplayer
changed it up to use the Wither keyword rather than spelling it out.
lowered toughness to 1 from 2.
