Possibly too strong as a finisher? It's +2 for each untapped mountain, and you'll have at least 5 of them, for a 14/14. Very red to take the "If this gets through, I win, otherwise I lose" approach, though; and it lacks evasion or trample.
rr3->3rr
Does stuff with lands and drawing cards, is big and stompy... fits the slot perfectly.
Skeletonise
rename, I already used the herbalist name
:)
In Gentlemen Magicians I think I had several of them and lumped river mammals (watervoles, beavers, etc) into "rats" and "rodents". I'm not sure what to do with otter sans that :)
I confess to searching multiverse for "Commander" :)
creature type += spike
Following in the fine tradition of Ambush Commander. In fact, the name/cost/size make me wonder if that was deliberate?
Those are all "Play me in a specific tourney deck" where you find a hole you absolutely must fill.
(I leave the signets aside, as they ARE good in lots of decks, but I've already got my 6 mana-artifacts)
I'm just finding it very hard to find non-equipment artifacts that do something interesting enough to be worth being an artifact and boring enough to be common.
Limited-use instant effects... that's not a terrible idea. Might help fight the card disadvantage the rest of the set exhibits.
Hmm, a red mythic creature that casts Grab the Reins is quite a good idea. It shouldn't cost 2 though :P
The various akroma appear to have a set protection-from, this seemed the way to get a compromise between that and invulnerability.
But life-link+vigilant 1/1 is a lot less good if it DIES when it does anything :)
Okay, let's take a different tack. Common noncreature artifacts can be good (even without being equipment). Tumble Magnet was a mainstay of control decks, there's Spellbombs, lots of common mana stones and signets, removal like Moonglove Extract or Heliophial, landsearch, and random little things like Welding Jar, all of which are perfectly playable at least in limited and in some cases in constructed.
Mmm. Nice. Order of the Stars as a mythic, or the baby of Akroma and Voice of All.
Seems okay now.
