This... ...is actually probably spot on for mythic power level.
That's pretty shocking, given my method of creating it was to go "Ok, what will I get shouted at for reprinting? Prodigal sorcerer? How about cheaper, and double the size, and hits for 2. Nah, let's make it STEAL. That's utterly ridiculous."
Steal is different to ping though. If the ground is stalled enough, this doesn't poke the opponent's face for 2.
(Also, stealing is a very frequent choice for blue mythics in amateur card sets. I note that both blue mythics in my Clockwork Wings relate to stealing, and there's at least one other custom cardset on here where that's the case too.)
Maybe I should make into the prod then. Only have it shoot the creature it steals at your own face, and set it on fire. If you feel that sentence implies setting the face on fire, I'm ok with that too. As long as the fire is blue.
Hmm, a red mythic creature that casts Grab the Reins is quite a good idea. It shouldn't cost 2 though :P
moved golden doors here
Er. Hmm. Draw your deck with Archivist, Arcanis the Omnipotent or Enclave Cryptologist. Discard your deck with any Merfolk Looter effect, of which there are buckets. Feels like a bit too easy an infinite combo to me.
On the flip side; it screws you over in your draw step. Strongly tempted to make this a prodigal-shockerer.
If you do, I think you're allowed to make it better than Reveka, Wizard Savant ;)
Good point about your draw step. I hadn't realised that; that does make quite a difference.
The shockerer would be
,2/2 and
:Deal 2 damage to target creature or player. Which is a biiiit good.
Um, yeah. You can't do that. A mythic pinger-for-2 is a nice idea, but would need to be at least 4 mana.
A totally different idea: http://multiverse.heroku.com/cards/11395
> "Whenever you draw a card... (Cards drawn from dig, or other searches, count)"
Um. Sorry, but no they don't. If you want dig to count, you'll need to say something very odd like "Whenever a card is put into your hand". Or just let it cope with only triggering on draws, not digging or searching.
Blegh, I really sometimes want to be able to do brackets without that implying 'this is reminder text'.
Without triggering on search, I don't think there's any in set way to trigger it!
"Whenever you draw, or search for, a card"?
That.... probably would work within the rules, but it still wouldn't trigger off dig, because that's neither drawing nor searching. Dig is properly templated as "Look at the top 5 cards of your library. Put one of them into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order." The key word is "put", which is neither "draw" nor "search".
But when you say "no in-set way", remember each player does draw a card per turn automatically.
Ok, no in-set-way to make it do anything other than untap your opponents creatures and tap all of yours :)
Which, yes, is doing SOMETHING, but not anything terribly useful :)
Do NOT draft this guy in limited; unless mayyybe you get LOTS of the diggers.
Probably should only be rare. Needs renaming.
Yeah, it basically ended up giving me two untap steps and you none.
OTOH, together with a card saying "T: Draw a card" it would make an infinite free card-draw engine.
Yeah. I think this guy is probably roughly fair. He's hard to use, reasonably easy to disrupt - but if you get him going he's really rather powerful.
So probably make this a rare and slot something else in the mythic.
erase code
moved to rare slot. Renamed.
Of course, I could have just made it "You may" which would have made it a lot easier to use.
He's STILL "Draw however many cards you like, oh and shoot your opponent for that many too" when combined with Bolir, Oracle of Toreft though.
