Changed text and CMC to match Slave of Bolas but slipped Trample in as well seeing as this is a Planeswalker's Signature Spell :) It was either that or make it an Instant
I didn't say because :) I said "I like this", "This does feel red", and "It reminds me of a blue-black card". No "because" in there :)
I guess I could elaborate slightly that this is combining a red effect with an all-colours effect to get a combined effect that's technically blue-black. It's the question of Peculiar Ultimatum :) And Wizards themselves acknowledged the desirability of combining these effects with Catch // Release.
Note that Grab the Reins does both halves of this, but it's pretty rare. I do like sideways ways for red to remove creatures other than burn, as long as they feel suitably red. I think this manages to do that.
Right; that kinda makes a massive difference, yes. Less splashy due to the added words - but much stronger for you in set :)
Mind you, I like "This card tells you exactly what deck to build" cards less, compared to building blocks that reveal themselves as you experiment. But every set needs a couple, to get people into the swing of things.
Yep :-)
Works in the set in a few ways - flavour wise it fits the Blue planeswalker who is an Illusionist, mechanic wise it fits the White planeswalker who cares about enchantments.
Well. Maybe. The hellspark comes back only once; this can come back forever. And, I think, you could recall all four of them and skip only one draw step to do so?
Oops - left out the sac line - this is Spark Elemental with the return clause...which does make it similar to Hellspark Elemental.
Notes say it was left at because you had to skip draw step to return it.

Huh, never saw that before. You're right. Cool.
This is exactly Slave of Bolas, except cheaper and not requiring black.
Grab the reins does it at - But I guess that has two further upsides (doing damage in return, and with the 'do only half' available for less)
But, um: "I like this! It's red, because it reminds me of a blue-black card!" is somewhat twisted logic for you, Alex.

(It's reminding me of Spinal Embrace, actually.)
I think is more sensible for a Hellspark Elemental that keeps coming back.

There left out two vital words
Actually it would fit very well with his other cards if I had posted it correctly :)
doesn't seem like it fits well with Traver's other cards, several of which are 0/0 once this goes off.
Still, I applaud "You're doing fiddlystuff, stoppit!" cards. Even though blue's the one most harmed by it.
It's... it's an unblockable card I might not actually hate? Whoa. Mind blown.
Nice. If any tribe should get the ability, it's illusions.
Yep :-)

I'm sure I've seen this elsewhere. Oh. Hah. It's a reprint of False Demise. That explains it, really :)
Changed cost - was originally
Yes you absolutely could - so maybe it SHOULD be
