Daaang I love this name. A lot better than the common Swordsman we got. 'Defector' is such an evocative word.
Being a 2/4 on the back would be a nice touch.
Ah, fun! I like the flavor here!
This is quite overcomplicated, but it has charge counters, which I approve of. Still considering charge counters - they do make us feel more Mirrodin, don't they?
This seems pretty fun and flavorful!
Hm. This is an interesting card. Feels a bit green to me.
Heck yeah, giant robots! I approve! Could probably be a construct rather than a golem though. In fact, golems probably don't make a lot of sense on Kaladesh, except as a one-off example of an obsolete ancient relic.
This looks very fun, at the least. Probably quite powerful. I'm not good with power formats like Modern or Vintage or Legacy, but the fact this keys off artifacts and is a cheap counterspell that hits cheap CMC makes me believe this could be quite powerful.
What do people think about a possible Spell Rupture for artifacts or this iteration?
Ah, see, I was thinking of Cogwork Spy as a virtual copy of this card. Reading cards still too strong.
Still, fair points. The answer seems to be "yes, but no," which is fine.
It actually used to be very common. Peek, Clairvoyance, Talas Explorer, Duress, Ostracize, Telepathic Spies, Thrull Surgeon, Wanderguard Sentry, etc., etc...
It does appear, however, that the last time it was a common occurrence was in Tenth Edition. After that, there was one more common Gitaxian Probe. But the New Phyrexia cards were intended to feel invasive, so that may have been their reasoning to move telepathy into common for a set. I wouldn't call the mechanic a no-no in common, but I can see why Wizards hasn't been doing it as much as they used to.
I'm not sure hand revealing is something you want too easily available at common
Exact evergreenness is up for debate, but I think everyone could use a giant fighting robot colossus in a steam punk set.
Could/should this be moved to common?
It's not so much of a conflict so much as yet another token. I don't think it is that bad of a thing. However, we have a very high number of fliers in this set, which is fine as long as each color (especially green) has answers.
Since we have Arbiter of Extravagance we may want to reflavor this to make 2/2 knights instead for a cute little symmetry.
Rename
This seems brutal (but I like it)
2/2 --> 3/1
