Well, Raise the Alarm exists, but so does Ashcoat Bear. I think I agree 2W would be fine, as would 1WW. It's the kind of thing that could be tweaked to fine-tune the colours' strength in limited, if we played enough draft/sealed to be able to do that.

Well, he's tap to use and there's no repeatable 'as many lands as you like' so not too terrifying (I'm thinking with an additional land-drop and strip-mine he's pretty terrifying though...)
He's a 4-drop, so you already have to be at the "And I win" stage in tournaments anyway. Anything that lets red get from 4 to 6 quickly has to be a good thing :)
If I use one of your "Make this something other than a land" cards, does it stop being a mountain?
Nothing that I can see. Old version was: http://vitenka.com/AlexMtg/Set-files/Surprise%20Flutter.jpg

What changed?
People keep calling this land broken. To me it seems like a tweak on the Karoos like Boros Garrison. Are there any Shamans it's particularly crazy with?

I think it's cute, certainly, but it does rather smack of "Look, the rules let me do this! So I will, because I can! Has your brain melted yet?"
Using both X and Y can be confusing, but the card as a whole is simple once you grasp it. Given that the creature is almost guaranteed to survive, and might blow out the entire opposing team, is the trample a bit too much?

The reminder text probably goes above the color-setting line. That brings the number of lines to six, even before wrapping, rendering this card unprintable even if the type box can somehow fit all of that. Does it really need the last ability, given that the mana ability is broken enough? In addition, you really want to use the tap abilities, but leaving the 5/5 body out of combat feels bad. I might recommend zero power instead, particularly given its flavor as a building. That said, if such a card has a home anywhere, it's here.
Trancebam suggests this could tap for R rather than colourless.

It was meant to be someone riding a flying steed, yes. I'd forgotten that those are usually Knights (though they're often Soldiers on Mirrodin, I think). I can make that change.

I like the cycle as a whole quite a bit. It really brings out your mechanical flavor. However, flying on a Human Soldier strikes me as odd. It would make more sense as a Knight on a flying steed.
Part of me wants to use an existing counter type, but "fog" is simply too perfect for the effect. I like the way such a simple (though wordy) effect will make each player think hard about combat.
Yeah... the whole "red is the primary lands colour" means that I have to stretch for things that red can do with lands. I agree it is unprecedented in red (though artifacts can do it with Crucible of Worlds). I recognise this is one of the cards that pushes the pie a bit, but I think/hope it's okay.
