This is great, I really really like this design. No reason Lifelink couldn't be on an enchantment really. The rules could be updated to reflect this even if they prohibit it currently. My only concern is that this needs to cost more. Without the lifelink it could be costed at
reasonably, but with gaining 4 life I do believe that it should be costed around

or
, or alternatively moved to uncommon, as this is quite the beating in limited.
Well, they get a 2/2 first strike and a 1/1; this card gives you a 2/2 and a 1/1 flyer. I figure the two balance out.
"Oh hey, here, have first strike too. Just because."
Mudflation truly has set in.
Heh. Two years later, Attended Knight (image) comes along, and shows I might have been fine at
after all :)
Thank you!
This card inspired Soulblade of Honor.
Fazoom! Mashup: the Gathering randomly selected this card on Multiverse, and now it's one half the inspiration for the card Ring of the Blacksmith!
As for Casting Cost, this card smeems, to me to be one of those rare examples of a card that can have a casting cost ranging from
to

, and it would still seem appropriate. Maybe not if the set had a ton of "Artifact Enchantments" in it, I suppose. But other than that, it kind of does the same thing at any speed.
It's funny that this is what you guys have picked up on this card. For me, I'm driven a little buggy by the flavor text. I know the author of this card wants it to have colloquial charm, but the writer in me wants to stab the words "Yeah, really and innit" with an eraser. Why I'm obsessing about that is far beyond me...
As in, you think it's too good? Really? Most decks will either have a lot of artifacts, or a lot of enchantments, not both - so this card affecting both only increases the diversity of decks which can use it, not its power level in a deck that can use it. And really, it's just a lifegain spell (and sorcery speed at that). I don't think it's a problem.
Sounds good, but I'm put off by having only one white mana in the cost for both artifacts and enchantmentsc at common.
That is amazing! I myself play a 5 color deck so that would be useful for that
I think the flavour text here may have been unconsciously inspired by Surveilling Sprite.
That's a significant power jump -rather than deciding "Ok, do I want a semi-unstoppable trampler, but 3 mana - or do I want an even harder to kill one that doens't trample and keep 8 mana" you're instead deciding between 8 and 12 mana. Which is an easier decision, I'd think.
There is, and you can make it all up side. When the creature enters the battlefield, search through your library for 4 lands and put them into play tapped. You may instead exile those lands. If you do, ~ gains trample.
That could work if there was a way to word it that was both sane and short, but I don't think there is.
