So; relating to Tesla.
The big thing of the set is half-creature cards; combine together to make full BIG stompy creatures; and when they die; you get one half back. (You choose which half if it was during your attack, they choose if you're defending.)
And they need an enemy. They tried phyrexia. I choose... gremlins.
Phyrexian Gremlins, to be precise. If I hamper, but don't kill your big stompy creature, then you can't just recover it and start again. (That's also their rationale for using Phy in the first place - infect can do exactly that)
So, gremlins in the works. Yay. All the gremlins we've seen so far are black; but if we're gonna stretch that into a modern set, they'd certainly go blue. White already has plenty of "Lock you down" answers; black has wither to play with - red.. I guess will concentrate more on "Ok, you can rebuild it? I can blow it up again... and both component halves"
Combining happens in the end step. So splitting it up again during your turn is a viable thing to do to it. And that's potentially useful on your own side; to recombine into something different. (Though they're thinking of making that into something you can do anyway, in which case this becomes a lot less useful.)
First attempt: ": Uncombine target Mecha. (It splits back into the two component cards)"
Which works, is succinct - but is parasitic. Better to flicker half of it; that has the desired result, and also does potentially useful things outside of set. Conjurer's Closet prices that at .

Nice. I could definitely see this being useful in Tesla.
Awesome!
Looking at the past is fun. Kaladesh has now made gremlins red aardvarks. Sounds like something I'd come up with; but I sure as heck didn't see it coming!
