Design a card with new mechanics but the same name, or new name but basically the same mechanics, to any previous card in the thread.

Each new card should be based on any previous card entered, and either:

  1. Change the name and optionally color while keeping everything else nearly the same, or
  2. Make a new card with the same name as the old card.

Notes:

  • Include a number in the name (eg. Magnetic Mine #2 ) for disambiguation when necessary
  • When you change the name, you may colour-shift the card and make other small tweaks to tidy up the templating or maintain the colour-shift, provided you keep the same spirit: eg. change sorcery to instant, change non-black to non-white, change coloured spell to artefact with tap, sac.
  • You may choose any card in the thread, not just the most recent one (this is an experiment, I'm not sure how it will go)
  • If no-one responds for 24 hours you may choose a random card off gatherer and add it to the thread
  • I don't have much time to play referee, so if someone asks what's ok, other people please respond with your own best judgement.

The randomly chosen starting card is: Magnetic Mine

The next could either be another card with that name, if there's any more ideas to be mined out, or a new flavour for my card (or the original card). Note: I allowed the rules to turn an artifact-sac into a coloured spell because otherwise I think it's too hard to switch between colours and colourless.

I'm game. I added Bamboo Rocket Hedge based on the ability from Magnetic Mine #2. And while it wasn't part of the challenge, I took the time to add flavor text. Made sense to me.

Oh, and just to be confusing, I also made Magnetic Mine #3.

And Bamboo Rocket Hedge #2 inspired by Bamboo Rocket Hedge because one Bamboo Rocket Hedge in magic isn't enough :)

And now we have a creature to riff off if people want.

Created Regenesis #3 based on the intriguing name of Regenesis.

Created Mirage colourshifting Regenesis #2 from GU to U. and Vesuvan Outpost shifting it from GU to colourless.

Added Makes Me Stronger, based on Viviana's Resuscitation #2. Oh, amuseum didn't link to it here. Well, consider that amuseum's link as well.

I submit Undying Evil based on Viviana's Resuscitation #2, since wizards happen to have already done the work for me in that case :)

I made Mirage #2, following Mirage.

I created Regenesis # 4, which amuseum turned into Vindicated Path, which inspired Vindicated Path #2.

Added Vindicated Path #3, because I, too, can't leave well enough alone. :)

And... Phoenix Force #4, thanks to some intervention by Challenge # 073.
