Knowing recursive black commons from the mistake I made in Magic 20XX, I can tell you this is probably too good. A single +1/+1 counter, as unexciting as that sounds, would probably make this a strong card. You know, like the uncommon, Reassembling Skeleton... except this one can block on the turn you pay for it.

He's annoying; but you do have to kill him in the first place, and {b}{2} to bring him back every time. Possibly not horrendous. Possibly.

The name is very funny, and I like the idea of the mummy resurrection mechanic.

And I don't think it's vital for a design challenge, but I think jmg is right about the Reassembling Skeleton comparison; 2B for 2/3 is fairly good already for a black common, and being able to do that repeatedly without spending a card on it is obviously even better.
