Recent updates to Multiverse Design Challenge: (Generated at 2025-05-23 03:23:44)
Wizards just printed their own answer to this challenge: Slumbering Dragon
I created Kobold Den Mother which by itself may not seem so over the top but with cards like Coat of Arms, Gauntlet of Power, etc out there....
for Challenge # 045
LOL. Yeah, close to it. I think a two mana common with three +1/+1 counters on is probably better than a 2 mana mythic, but a 6-mana mythic is probably better than a 9/x :)
Squire sez: "Vengeance!"
haha, cute :) and sounds almost correct, even XD
Created for Challenge # 045. Flavour text is just reusing the joke from Rare-B-Gone.
Heee. Yes. The green one could follow in the footsteps of Yavimaya Dryad. The blue one could evoke Spellwild Ouphe. The black one is like the Hunted cycle, and the white one sorta reminiscent of Iwamori of the Open Fist or Boldwyr Heavyweights.
Lol.
I smell a common cycle... :)
I wanted to keep the spell reasonable for
. As it stands, it reads "Counter target spell that targets a creature spell or a creature permanent", then leaves a little something extra. That seems pretty good.
Of course, this spell, itself, is a Mythic Rare...
Ha! Yes, this could be common, and it would be very funny to see loads of them around in Limited :)
ROFL. This made me laugh as soon as I saw the name, and the abilities are cool too.
Alex is right that it's probably usually disappointing to play with at Mythic. OTOH, maybe it should just be common or cost 1 less: 4RR for 6/3 at common.
I very nearly did something similar with Wurmcoil Engine: put the 3/3s onto the battlefield under the opponent's control :)
LOL. That's pretty cool.
And it's probably quite fun too: it's a nice blocker to start with, and can probably go crazy as soon as you find some equipment.
Created Intangible Saint. Later I created Equal Footing. May have another go in a little bit too.
Created for Challenge # 045. My aim was to make something that looks at first glance even stronger than Geist of Saint Traft (+2/+2 to both the creature and the token), but is actually a lot weaker - and yet is still playable. That's a tricky set of constraints.
Most of the time this will play like Plumeveil or Wall of Denial, but then someone will be able to poke him and live the dream... but at that point, he does become vulnerable to kill spells (or just a simple Goldmeadow Harrier).
I also like the combination of "hexproof" and "whenever ~ becomes the target of a spell or ability", because the combination sounds somewhat nonsensical together and yet does actually make sense.
Not really anything to do with Challenge # 045
Heh. This is quite an amusing parody, but it's probably not going to play very well. It's effectively a 6/3 vanilla, maybe up to a 6/6 if you have other defensive creatures. Of course, it's great if you have a Stuffy Doll or Spitemare, so maybe it should just be a prompt to R&D to put something like that at uncommon.
Hah! Now WotC printed Rare-B-Gone, but somehow I can't see them printing this :P Shouldn't it also say "If it's a creature, it gets +2/+2"?
I got it. And smiled.
Haha :)
I don't think Epic appeared on a creature. It would be funny if it worked :)
And if "protection from everything" counts as a keyword, that's better than horsemanship and shroud put together.
Most of the time, a card like this that only allowed the "normal" keywords would be a lot more playable. But OTOH, the game of "what's the most broken combination" is fun, so it would be a shame to leave it off. Maybe it could gain one or two keywords for one turn at a time?
Oh, I'm adding that to my silly set now. Except... Ok, I can argue "Copy this spell" won't work (except it might) but the whole "For the rest of the game you cannot cast spells" probably works just fine. It's still a great spell - so: Aura of Awe
Wot? No 'Bands with other Wolves-of-the-Hunt'? This would be one of the few times it could work, since you can have two Efficiencys set to it. Unfortunately, 'banding' is superior to that.
I'm also pretty sure that SadisticMystic missed horsemanship... though, technically, you can just call any basic landwalk, or nonbasic landwalk when you cast this.
I also find it funny that you can just call 'Epic'. It doesn't do anything, since the spell has already been cast. But, hey, your creature is now Epic. :)
I totally failed this, but can I remind us that if you play one of these on the kitchen table, it may or may not provoke "whoa, awesome", but should be LESS broken than titans, not more (unless it's sufficiently funny to end the game right then)?
