Wanted to try for a commander who could support Djinn/Efreet tribal.
Hmmm. It's repeatable token creation - so yeah, probably uncommon.
It's the very commonest variant of it though. Being a thing that only happens once each turn, with a minor hoop to jump through. I could just about maybe see it pushing to common in a set where making tokens was the main concept.
I don't have a good handle on draft power levels, and I wasn't really intending this collection of cards as a draft archetype... EDH toys is what I'm going for. I'm not married to card rarity, at any rate!
Two evasion abilities? It would be cool if they were more distinct.
Maybe you could cut the text length a bit by putting an activated ability on the card itself e. g. "
, Exile a token you control created with a card named ~: Put ~ from exile onto the battlefield."
If this has some upside outside of grieving it may be warranted (maybe with a change to preserve the upside e. g. no longer affecting the opponent), but in general I don't see that being the case.
This is in no way common though, right?
I just watched Tarzan :>
Does this really need the "activate this ability once per turn" clause?
I believe you can use colored instead of non-colourless
Does it need the non-colourless clause? And since getting a double Entomb is pretty good maybe it should shuffle them into your library instead?
"one or more creatures you control attack"
It probably warrants not existing in modern Magic.
Or maybe an upkeep cost... old-school black magic taxes...
Does such evil warrant an increase in rarity or casting cost, do you think?
I feel like this is an evil card. If you ramp this out and your opponent is mana-screwed, that's just mean gameplay.
Some effects can be worse than their simple version and still more expensive. I think especially of Fold into Aether, more expensive than Cancel even though it reads like Cancel-with-a-drawback, because it's too good used on your own Ornithopter.
So this needs to cost

for colour pie reasons, but I think it's quite plausible that

is necessary for the recursion effect too.
Hybrid doesn't work since you can play it in mono-green still. Gold or nothing. Not every effect is doable in mono-color.
hybrid!?
I could splash red but that would require two colors or hybrid... hybrid I still seem to get yelled at for going sorta off-color, and doing XRG makes it strictly worse than Blaze when used offensively. But I really like the trade-off here so I want to find a solution...
Green doesn't get blaze.
Ouch. That's nasty against tribal decks.
I think it's fine as its own effect, recosted slightly.
Dang! WotC beat me to this with not even a full card, but half of one... Odds // Ends.
