Definitely want to do a cycle of three-color Gods... not totally in love with this one though.
Yeah, after further mulling, I think I'm going with good ol' deathtouch for black.
tweaked!
Yes, it would generally say "Bear creature card," because of Nameless Inversion, as LivesByProxy said. At least, I think that's the current tendency.
I think you can leave out the 'permanent' restriction for the card you search for, i.e. "...search your library for a Bear card, reveal it..." Unless you're really concerned about Nameless Inversion and friends.
References: Treefolk Harbinger, Enlistment Officer, and Goblin Matron.
Neat card.
It is a bit odd to me that black gets the only non-evergreen mechanic.
swapping out wither for infect on black
Aha. I knew this had to be something that was done before in some fashion, but I didn't know what to compare it to.
Extra Arms was uncommon last time, and rightly so. This is rather too much repeatable removal for common.
Very cool. I like how it's balanced and useful at most spots along the colour curve. It's a Galvanic Juggernaut with no drawbacks in Karn or Kozilek (a nice reward for jumping through the significant hoops of having a colourless commander); a 5/5 for 5 with a useful keyword ability in monocolour (which you get at rare or mythic but only with other abilities stapled on); a 5/5 for 6 with two useful abilities in two-colour; a random 7-mana dude in tri-color; and a version of Akroma for 9 in Cromat or Child of Alara. I wouldn't play it in tricolour (well, possibly Sharuum), and it'd be a fairly odd five-colour deck that wanted this, but it doesn't seem entirely wrong at any point on that line.
Noted... I do think a slight cost increase is warranted, anyway, as the cheapest repeatable targeted regenerate shield I can find is on Asceticism, which is
. Everything else requires either tapping, sacrificing something, removing a counter, or a higher CMC.
ABH: Don't feel like you need to actually make any changes in regard to SM's comments :) He's pointing out a pleasing, silly, convoluted way to make an infinite combo with it... it doesn't actually mean there's a problem.
And now you need to change Fertile Ground into Overgrowth and have two other lands to make it start. Presumably you had those lands in order to cast Overgrowth to begin with.
