just wanted to chime in and say this set has a really cool idea at its core, and i hope you eventually finish it off
have you played around with the idea of making the coloured mana a 0 ability? feels pretty rough losing loyalty to get coloured mana on a rare land.
i think you can get away with losing the activation cost just to make the card cleaner. are you worried about balance issues?
Upped cost from to and added activation cost to the ability.
Sure, Vitenka.
Can I borrow this one for Llanowar burned?
You have no idea how much I want this card. One of the first I ever designed myself.
Yes, they can be attacked. No, you can't bolt them, because that makes LD way too easy.
In playtest I found it was a good idea to tap them when activating the loyalty ability, for the sake of memory.
how exactly do they work? can they be attacked? can i bolt it?
You're fancy. Thank you. :-)
manually apply planeswalker frame
missed this one
Done.
Ah, so they're not keeping their specific subtypes (like Nandes)? Sounds fine, just clarifying.
It won't be much work at all, but it'll be at a random point this weekend, unless you get there first.
I don't mind doing it myself if it's too much work.
Oh! Fancy! I would like Country to be a land subtype. So the typeline for all of them would be "Land -- Country."
Woo. Looks like that's working. Took me ages to squish all the bugs I could find (and I'm still not completely sure there aren't some more hiding), but it seems like the ability to specify planeswalker frame on non-planeswalker cards is now usable. (You can also do this with tokens too, though that's less relevant to this cardset.)
Now you can finally specify these cards the way you want them. I'd do a mass edit to this cardset, except I'm not quite sure what you'd like it to be like. Do you want Country to be a type, a subtype, a supertype, or just a nickname for loyalty lands?
use the new Planeswalker-frame-without-Planeswalker-type support
Mythic, manofperson, Mythic. 2RRWW is the exact casting cost of Aurelia, the Warleader, which is clearly a stronger card than this card, and isn't even a tournament staple.
Right now, this card is a little better than Hero of Oxid Ridge, with one more toughness, first strike and one bonus power to your creatures (though the Hero also featured blocking restrictions, and a bonus that applied even when the opponent chump blocked). The bonus to your creatures balances, and yeah, I think the double white covers +1 toughness and first strike. But it wouldn't be out of place to make this cost 1RRWW.
Forgot about the first strike, I just skimmed over it. Power usually costs more than toughness (see how Steel Wall has 4 toughness for 1, but Elvish Ranger has 4 power for 3? Now add in haste, which is the R, and first strike + the other ability which is probably W or 1W...) I'd say that the CMC should be either 2RRWW, or you remove the haste and make it still RRWW. That second ability is a really good finisher, and haste makes it almost impossible to predict, especially if the opponents has recently attacked with all their creatures.
I'm not very good at gauging power level, so I'll have to trust you there. However, you're wrong about the triggered. He has first strike, so he will boost all of your creatures without first strike before their combat damage is dealt.
Dropped vigilance.
Second ability is pointless, as once he's dealt damage the other creatures will have also, they won't get the bonus until after combat. Also incredibly overpowered for 4 CMC.
See Valos, Land of Conquest.
Brief playtesting with Jon (yay I convinced him to do it!) has shown me two things right away: that the second +1 abilities on the Viara cycle should be 0 abilities, and that having a bunch of loyalty lands can be hard to keep track of. I think the country frame would perhaps include the tap symbol somehow as part of the loyalty payment "box," and that the lands would tap as a reminder that they've been used, since tapped lands are much easier to keep track of.
