  This is effectively ": You gain 3 life. Activate this ability only when you could cast a sorcery." Isn't that a bit of a high power level, even for life gain?

  Wouldn't this be a lot simpler as: "Whenever you play an Elf or Shaman creature, you may pay blah blah"?
