Wouldn't this be a lot simpler as: "Whenever you play an Elf or Shaman creature, you may pay {x} blah blah"?

This is pretty cool now. Reminds me a little bit of Evershrike, and also Iridescent Drake, maybe a bit of Storm Herald.

You don't need to search graveyards, as they're public knowledge, so you could just word this as:

> When ~ ETBs, you may pay {x}. If you do, return target Aura card with CMC X from any graveyard to the battlefield attached to ~.
