The closest comparison is Sentinel Dispatch, which makes a single 1/1 with defender. Otoh, you're always guaranteed the effect. It might also be worth noting that Khalni Garden originally made a 1/1 plant, which turned out to be totally broken
Changing all of the cards in this cycle. Removing the 'no permanents' restriction, but changing around the wording on the wheel.
It's a good restriction on the land ramp of this cycle. Not so much on this one.
I don't think the "no permanents" restriction is actually a restriction. The problem with Once Upon a Time (which got hella banned, remember) is that it was free, replaced itself, and could go in any deck. If anything, it should be like the Massacre cycle, where you have to control the matching land type to keep it in color pie
Defender has been removed. However, keep in mind that this is made with draft in mind, not constructed. It might be overpowered for a player to start the game out with a strictly better Raise the Alarm for free.
@Froggychum this is a cycle, and the red one is a wheel. I didn't want players to be able to go +1 with that card by playing a land and then wheeling.
For the cmc, I originally wanted to make them all cost double colored mana, but I guess I could change it up.
This is awesome! But why does it require you have no permanents? If this is your first spell, you wouldn't have any permanents (unless you've played a land)... that line seems redundant.
So is this a combination of Once Upon a Time and Lingering Souls? IMO, those cards both act as really solid standards for free spells and token makers, respectively.
I'd suggest costing this as and make it's second line of text, "Create two 1/1 white Spirit creature tokens with flying"
Defender is always under-powered, and rarely used on top of that. The only time it's good is when you build a deck around it like with Arcades, the Strategist or Doran, the Siege Tower... even cards like Righteousness aren't played often, lol.
Still trying to figure out how to balance this card. Two 1/1s or a 2/2 without defender felt too good, but this feels a bit underpowered.
