Thank you! I thought of every flavorful but useless object I could :) Glad "the entry that taught me the most about socialism" won :)
But what does the scrip token do? I imagine it's treasure, but only for
Not many people contributing to this one. Honestly, I get it. It's not an artifact that really inspires creativity. That's okay, though. Jack supplied an entire community worth of answers. ;)
Let's go with the Company Store. Anything that makes me look up a word gets bonus points from me, and I've never heard of scrip before. I also like how scrip is both valuable and valueless. Like arcade tokens, I suppose. Still have a roll of them to an arcade down the street that closed down a couple of years ago.
See you guys again in (((NTC #024))).
Bootleg Mint Printing Press. Toilet paper artifact token.
Statue Sculptifier. VP artifact token.
Failed Cloning Machine. Copy of target creature except it's a colourless artifact with no abilities.
Company store. Scrip artifact token.
Clockwork Tombola. Prize artifact token.
Broken Springcoil. Cog artifact token.
Currency Inflator. Gold artifact token.
Mox rain. Artifact token called "stone mox".
NTC #023 creates artifact tokens. Why? What kind? To what end? All these questions and more can be answered when you Name That Card!
I rather liked Swordfish Surprise. In part because I could imagine the sort of layered image that would have come out of that. 'Swordfish Surprise' kind of sounds like 'mystery meat'. You could use a tuna fish can as the art focus, and make a Charlie Tuna like character printed on the side of the can, and use some sort of flavor text pun like "The key to his open-faced fighting style was uncanny."
But Vitenka voted for Froggy. What else could I do? ;)
(((NTC #023))) in a couple days!
My vote to Froggy. How did I miss that terrible terrible pun?
Schnozzle Nuzzler - Goblin Nosepicker
"You snooze you lose."
Noseferatu
Creature - Vampire Horror
I think I'm going to go with some serial-number-removing. Inspired by the "tapping your finger against the side of your nose" gesture meaning "keep your nose out of it" or... well...
Trickster Priest. Creature type is obviously cleric; flavour text has to be "It's a secret".
Apprentice Duelist. Wizard.
I wanted at least one where the name Surrey of made sense without the flavour text ;)
Swordfish Surprise. Fish.
"When the swordfish suggested a game of competitive nose touching, this wasn't what I expected."
One Who Nose Too Much. Wizard.
"This is not an appropriate way to assign dangerous quests" -- Tycho Brahe
Welcome back! This week we have a silver-bordered card on our hands. And evidently there's an entire Wikipedia article on 'Noes goes'. We live in a strange world.
Originally this dealt damage to the last player. But I didn't want situations where someone waited until a player had 3 life or less, then tried to organize that player's loss with the rest of the players at the table. There's no wrong time to draw a card, and no obvious immediate impact to the game when you do, so I added that instead.
'Rulings'
Oh, and don't forget this creature needs a type!
I really like Fractal Framework. There's a lot of good suggestions here, but I really feel that one drove home the idea of manipulating and replicating an intangible spell.
I really liked Signature Spell, too. But I admittedly liked it more for the name itself than for how it related to this particular spell. There's probably going to be a better fit for Signature Spell someday, so it makes more sense to hold onto that name. But I stole Jack's flavor text, since it's also a great match for fractal spellcasting.
(((NTC #022))) in a couple of days!
A more generic but still magical name would bee Mirror Mysticism.
Let's thinking with the Ravnican theme though. The original flavor text references the Simic. Maybe mimicry alluding to convergent evolution? Enchantments never felt tangible to me. Ethereal Mimicry. No. Ethereal doesnt' sound good enough. Oh, I forgot mimicry implies something different from convergent evolution, but mimicry still fits here. Supernal sounds better. My suggestion is Supernal Mimicry.
Fractal Framework
Fractals are under-appreciated and underutilized.
"Sharingan Eye" if we're doing a Naruto fan set :)
Signature Spell
Flavour text: "I can do this all day"
