I didn't have card type for this in the note I found. I guessed based on the CMC (I think I originally had actually), that I had designed the card to be an instant rather than an enchantment.
For the wording: Shift High Tide to your color of choice. Replace "a player"/"that player" with "you" etc.
I strongly believe the one-shot variant of this effect should be red, but green certainly gets its share of sorceries that add a single bulk of mana and the life gain fits in there as well.
Unsure if I have the first part worded correctly.
I have not yet given them individual names. I gave them the name Tomlars as plural of Tomlar. They would always appear together because spark reasons. They are goblins. One is and the other is .
Using continuumg's suggestion.
Why not:
Equipped creature has “: Untap target land.”
much simpler
> "1: The ability isn't a mana ability for flavor reasons."
Wait... is that supposed to be an effect that lasts? Indefinitely? That's undercost and overpowered for a common, so I assume not.
> "2: I don't know."
Note that my question is for what this is supposed to do, not for what it does. I'm asking for your intentions. Are you certain you don't know your intentions?
> "Can you respond to mana abilities?"
No, but you cannot respond to your own mana abilities either, so do you want to say that this ability is supposed to not work on anything except lands with abilities that add mana, but aren't mana abilities? Are there lands like that? I'd have to do a search. Are there any in this set?
This is still a combat trick on a land. It's not a matter of making the land worse and piling drawbacks on it (ETBT and producing just colorless mana?), but the sheer fact that lands are so easily overlooked as sources of abilities that makes me advise against this.
Adding that this is a repeatable combat trick as opposed to the cycle of lands that sac for +1/+1 counters is also a problem.
And this has no shields down moment with regards to other mana sources. As long as you don't need to tap out entirely to your very last generic mana source this combat trick can stay online and mess with your opponent's combat math.
As a common you might have two of these on the board.
That seems like an incredibly expensive sac ability, but I guess they really do push the power level of common lands pretty far down.
