The former is what I meant.
It's basically hosing revealing cards from your hand, or looking at the top X of your library. But no, you can still look at things that would normally be visible.
It's playing off the idea that the deep sea is incredibly dark and mysterious, and perhaps eerily not ready to give us insight into itself.
Ooh, liking the flavour. But cannot look at cards? Like, cards that are in a hidden zone but are visible? Or you don't know the name/mana/text of cards in your hand or in play?
